    Turbo M30 in a E30 build thread......

It's taken some time but finally got some boost back in my life.
As most of you know my M10 went KABLAAM so decided to go bigger and decided the M30 would be sufficient.

Here's some pics of the start.

Gathering the bits and pieces for the swap.
Engine by the tailgate was free so decide to use it for setting up the swap.

Used the light weight flywheel 7.25" twin clutch setup from the M10 weighs around 12lbs. Good for 600ftlbs.

Massaging the firewall for fitment, using the essential tools.

    Cutting is fun.

    Fabbing the engine mounts.

Installed with manifold, yes I made the manifold.

EDIS wheel and sensor mounted along with the HX40.

Amazing what a can of rustoleum can do.

    This engine is fookin BIG

Engine positioned as far back it possibly can.

4" down pipe that reduces to 3" with no muffler at all. Wiring for the MSII.

Custom driveshaft $600...mmmm well this works for now and it was free.

    Front mount.

Got the car to idle yesterday with 85# low z injectors was challenging, also tweaking the VE table a little and was able to do some testing in the driveway 1st gear only. Traction was non existent even with a rolling start and data logged 8.5psi at 70% throttle. Using MSII/extra/V3.0

Just need some more tuning and slap the drag radials on and will get thee to a dragstrip ASAP.

That's right on! I have an M30 sitting in my garage right now with only 80 000 miles. I also have a 1990 E30 M3 that needs an engine. Hmmm.

Cool build dude. Cant wait to see the numbers and or times from this thing!

Youve got some serious balls for your drive shaft situation.

I like the WG placement too! What size is the turbine housing?

Thanks, I had some spare drive shaft parts laying around and didn't want to wait or spend $500 to get a stock one made and then have it break, so I just chopped one up When it breaks or vibrates to much I will replace it.

Forgot what size the housing was, I think 22cm, it spools damn quick and when turn off the engine you can here it hiss out the tail pipe for 20sec

This thing is a beast and it's just a stock engine, can't even imagine what the built engine is going to feel like

No jig for the mounts, besides you would half to smash the fire wall back quite a bit to for these mounts. Used the two piece 265 tranny.

Thanks Jay, using the V3.0 flyback circuit, no resistors, they are peak and hold injectors. Have them set at one squirt simultaneous. Required fuel is 4.2
To be honest with you I really don't play well with the understanding of electronics, I'm a complete doofus with it But it's working for now...........

Nelson Mandela borrowed this from Marianne Wilson in his 1994 inaugural speech - "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am i to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. You were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within you. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Looks great! That thing is gonna burn some major rubber. Its hard keeping traction in an e34 when boost hits, I cant imagine how it will be in your e30. I really like that exhaust manifold too.

Woah. Cool. I had no idea they would bolt up. Trying to decide what to do with this thing. It has an M10 in it right now. The S14 was chucked a long time ago. Playing with the idea of putting an S14 back in (mucho denaro) or dropping in something else. I have an M30 which would be free.

An m10 in an e30 m3... holy crap. You probably have the good getrag 265 or you can run the 280 from the m5.

How do I buffer the map signal, like an inline filter?

use a hard vacuum line and a lawnmower fuel filter and then watch the waves of your map signal disapear.

Thanks, now that you mention it the vacuum line is pretty thin and soft, will change it out. Also have to tune the accel enrichment to use more map than tps.
