Clutch issues? Thats the only thing I can think of. How old is your car?

post cat 02 sensor. Lol i'm serious.

Try this: When idling the car, turn the wheel all the way to both sides. See if the car stalls when you do this.

Also, do you have a check engine light on?

the check engine light is not on. also i have turned the wheels while idling and it doesn't happen.

it's happened to me on 3 different occasions. 2 of them was while it had rained.

Usually the problem you described is associated with the catalytic converter, and in most cases the 02 sensor is responsible. Do the rpms bounce at all while idling, any loss of power, or experiences with stalling while not turning?

    Many in the worshop.
It may need the latest software being loaded to the engine ECU, it's a known e46 problem

Engine stops on moving the steering to full lock.
Engine stops when brakes are applied heavily at around 1700rpm which happens for Automatic Transmission vehicles only.

    Cars involved:

All vehicles manufactured up to July 2000.

    Reason:

Great amount of current used by power steering during full lock.
Mass Air Flow (MAF) signal to Engine Control module not rightly valued.

    Solution:

Use latest software to re-program ECM.

ok, the car runs good usually. i have the ses light on and it's code p0174 and now p0344, which is the cam sensor. the car sometimes stutters and turns off when shifting to drive or accelerating in neutral. it only does this sometimes.

I have also had this problem. Stalls when I turn the week and push in the clutch. Car also stalls after accelerating hard and pushing in the clutch.

I have taken out the Idle Control Valve and cleaned it and have also cleaned the MAF.

    Any ideas?
