Actual LS engine get a lighter version of the crankshaft. The truck engines "LS-based" get the solid crank with the same dimensions.

Either way, thanks for the update and the vid.

Engine will run entirely off of a 99 camaro PCM, it has an upgraded operating systems and tuned with HPTuners software to read the 2 bar MAP sensor. All output signals, from the GM engine are 5v reference. Same signal the BMW pcm receives. Tach can get wired directly up to the pcm, output signal can be changed to whatever. I havnt got that far to find out how many teeth are on the reluctor ring from the BMW engine to figure out the difference.

If you need help with the tach, PM me - it takes just a couple of minutes in HP tuners.

Do you think it's possible to retain ABS and DSC with an LSX swap?

I'm curious if you found a way to keep the dash MID functional.

Can it still display things like avg mpg, fuel mileage range, etc, etc??

I dont think the owner is building this thing anymore. It was up for sale a while back.
The speedo will work but the tach, temp gauge and mpg gauge will not work.( its a different story for E39s built before 9/97)

Ya its still in the works, not selling it. He changed jobs and now should be back working on it again soon. Its sitting in my garage still. He decided to do away with the 700r4, (as we both predicted would never hold up anyway) and build a decent TH350 for it. I'll be building the new setup for my Nova right next to it in the garage. Twin turbo 421 LSX.
