INteresting and well executed but unknown as to why...

4g63T AWD and 525/525 would be not exactly pushing the limits.

rwd + s14? why not stuff it in an e30?

Yah dont understand the swap but it is clean and kick ass, i bet they shaved over 300lbs from the swap alone.

That's one helluva conversion and swap, but it's kinda weird in that I don't see any real advantage to going to an S14. IMO, the only 4-banger swap worth ditching the 4G63 for (in an F/I application) would be the SR20 (save weight).

I still give them credit for putting that labor into it. It's still a heck of a beast.

Being that the S14 is a cast iron block like the 4G63, it's unlikely that they shaved anywhere near 300lbs on that swap (transfer case and two CV axles = maybe 100lbs).

The next question would be:
-What transmission?
-what rear-end set-up?

That's why the SR20 would be the only real reason to ditch the 4G out (aluminum block).

+1

A RWD Evo makes as much sense as an AWD E30 M3. Two different cars with two different means of "getting it done". One being with brute force and the other with good balance.

I think this swap is more for the "Being different" value, because it certainly isn't the most cost effective way to make that car fast.

I'm seriously in the "what's the point" crowd. I guess it must be something akin to the "put a small block chevy" in it kind of thing we have here. You get a group of guys that know one thing and they stick with it, rather than branch out and learn something new. Sure, it looks like a clean install, but with a turbo that big it must take forever to spool, so it can't be a street car. Also not very likely it's a road course car, so maybe drag racing?

Hell, it's Norway, don't they eat Lutefisk there?

I agree the swap does not seem to make much sense but it is clean and well done.

Drop it in a 2002 or Datsun 510

Its funny how people always have to pick things apart no matter how good it is. You guys are forgetting one thing, its Europe where BMW parts are probably cheaper than JDM parts and the car is shop built to showcase their talents which they've done. The thing that amazes me about the EVO body is how much room there is in the engine bay. Ever see the LS1 powered over in the Mid East.

that's good an well but 600 hp is just barely out of the boltons and into the plug n play Ecu category...

And I seriously wonder... just based on parts value alone, how much is an S14, transmission and whatever else worth, vs the 4-6k or so in off the shelf parts to make the same HP on the stronger stock internal 4g63T engine?

Doing it to make people say WUT? usually makes people say WUT?
AND WTF4?!

The engine bay is not long at all. No longer than the E30 engine bay (going off of the side shots).

LSx's aren't that long compared to an I-6. You could fit it length-wise into just about any engine bay. That's why it is such a popular swap. Light, compact for it's displacement, less moving parts, cheap to mod, powerful.

Another cool detail on this evo is that the door panels are made of lutefisk
