Wanli makes great tires. They come on ferraris, AMG Mercedes, BMW's, Porsches, and Aston Martins from the factory.

are you serious?! why hasnt anyone heard of them? they are made in china so im suspicious... plus they are hekka cheap. are you sure?!
The only tests I found on the web do not give good reviews - but who knows. OEM on HP cars? Could be.... a used BMW is as HP as I get.
damn... what was the just of the reviews? how about nankang?
I'm looking at these things too, but just for a monthly track tire. I've heard they have no grip but they have a softer compound than my Falken Ziex 512's (which have been awsome). Cheap Ebay prices have me leary but it might be worth it for a now and then track tire...... Anyone have these or run them before???
Just found this post on a Maxima forum...
"I have talked to two guys that have Wanli 1099s (they are the ones like a fake Yokohama AVS Sport). Both drivers like them a lot and said they hold the road better than previous tires. One guy has a newer GTI and had whatever came stock and just put the Wanlis on the stock rims. His car is lowered, intake, exhaust. Nothing too extraordinary. The other guy is a ricer with a Honda Civic Coupe. I am not sure of all the mods, but he said it ran high 14s. He said he likes the Wanlis better than the Toyo Proxes FZ4s he had on there before.
Both guys have fairly new tires and Wanli have only been sold at Les Schwab here for a year or so. Neither one of them expected the Wanlis to last long, since they have a low tread wear and are Z rated. I don't know anyone that has the newer Wanli 1088, but they look a little less aggressive.
I was thinking about buying some and that's why I asked when I saw these guys with them.
For those of you posting that the tires are crap and whatnot, it would be nice to find an explanation, personal experience or tire reviews by actual owners. I am not saying I think these tires are great (I still don't know either way), but I have actually talked to some people with them on their cars. Just because they are new and inexpensive doesn't always mean they are unsafe. Not too long ago, no one in the US knew much about Kumho tires and now they are respected and used quite frequently. I think Kumho and potentially Wanli are pefectly acceptable compromises if you want better performance than all-seasons at a cheaper price. As with any Z-rated tire, you should expect less miles out of them. Probably 20-30k."
Then again, I just found this one too.... I think they are hit or miss. I think I'm moving on to another brand, even for an occasional track tire.....
"I have Wanli's and I can vouche for them. DO NOT get them.
They ride nice and their treadlife is really well.
But as far as handling they suck. Ive gone around corners at medium speeds and I could feel and hear them breaking loose.
Now, Ive noticed their sidewalls are splitting.
I read a thread in the past regarding Goodyear RSA's having the same issues and from the pics I saw of them, they looked identical to mine.
So, I have tried contacting somebody from Wanli with no luck.
Ive tried contacting this monkey with no luck since he is the major distributer of these tires... 'tim@ztire.com'

I also contacted the place where I purchased them from. They were part of a wheel and tire package and they couldnt offer any help neither.
They told me all they had was the same contact info that I already had.
They did however offer to sell me new tires, sorry d#ckheads!"

i'd say go for the nexen over the wanli....heard better things about those....read a review that was half decent too
I know this is an older thread, but wanted to weigh in, as I ran a set of 1099's on my Civic Si for about 2 years. I HAD thought they were decent tires, going from my crappy OEM Michelin's. Then I put RE750's on the car, and HOLY CRAP! Differences: I'd say the Wanli's have horrid wet rodaholding, and soft sidewalls. They are also VERY unpredictable on breakaway. I don't know about soft tread compound, but the wear was fine by me, but I replace tires every 2 years minimum anyhow. Noise was so-so, better as freeway speeds than the RE750's, but worse at low speeds. All-in-all, I wouldn't reccomend them unless you REALLY have no money.
Slow cars are quite possibly the most fun to own: you can push to extract all the performance you want on a daily basis without getting a ticket.
It is not hard to copy tread design and rubber pretty much looks the same, so the Wanlis look just like a much more expensive tire. There is much more to the science of tire making, however.
There are some good tires that have been race proven and that are not as expensive as Michelin PS2 or Bridgestone S03. Kumho makes some, Toyo makes some, and Hankook makes some. If performance was my goal, I would spend a little more and buy the top street performance tire from one of those brands. If looks were my goal, I'd buy whatever was cheap and had the cool tread design that I wanted people to see.
I bought the Toyo T1R, but would have tried the Hankook RS212 (?) if they had been available in 245/40/17.

One important lesson I've learned from having fast cars: NEVER compromise on your tires.
ps nobody will ever take you seriously if you have a tire called "wanli" on your car

If you really need a cheap tire, try the Fuzion zri. I believe its a division of bridgestone and has gotten some good reviews for daily driving.
Down with the wanlis.... Think about it this way. The tires are the only part of your car that actually touches the ground. Its basically the most important part of your car. As far as being on a budget i just got some Dunlop fm901's in 18's for 103 a peice. I love these tires. They have fantastic dry handling and ride very well. Havent had them in the wet yet but im loving them so far.. Dont skip out on some cheap tires to save a few bucks. Youll regret it..
i know several people who use wanli for drifting, they are cheap and work well for that.
as far as non-drift i dont know how they are, but if your drifting they are cheap and dont chunk, i doubt that helps.
i like drifting

This is a 5yr old thread!but since we are posting i was wanting an opinion on sumitomo htr z11? say, compared to falken 452's or yokahama s drives.
Just ran some wanli's on my z3 for autox over the weekend... it was raining out as well. As expected I was sideways ANNOYINGLY a lot, and spun out several times.
So the skinny. Grip sucks, wet grip sucks, road noise at pretty much any speed, cheap. If engaging in non aggressive driving i guess they're fine... but if you're actually going to drive your car... leave these on ebay or craigslist... if you buy them new, i'll raise you a moron alert.

I have used Wanli winter tires for two seasons and have not had a problem yet. Still lots of tread and for the money, they seem to run fine.
