I'm out, but I wish I could do it.

It's at Thunderbolt right or is it one day at each track?

Hey Preeth. I'm done for the season but I'm already working on the car for next year. Have fun and be safe.

Usually I've found NJ state troopers to be a reasonable bunch (in my experience) however that's total BS.

Don't they have better things to do?

Most cars can't even do 5mph without slipping the clutch.

Here's what was posted on rennlist by Darren...it looks like a cut and paste from the state law website. The two year requirement does not apply to road course racing or HPDEs.
-------------------------------
The cop was WRONG about the code on the harnesses -- the two year requirement shows up under Oval Racing, drag racing, etc, but not under:

SUBCHAPTER 3. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR VEHICLES AND PERSONNEL: ROAD RACING AND HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING SCHOOLS

§ 13:62-3.7 Safety belts, shoulder harness and crotch belt
(c) All vehicles (except motorcycles) participating in
racing, racing event practice, qualifying or testing shall require
a minimum of a five-point safety belt for each occupant
meeting one of the following standards:
1. SFI 16.1 or SFI 16.5, incorporated herein by
reference and available at http://www. sfifoundation.com,
seat belts shall be valid until December 31st of the second
year after the date of manufacture punched or indicated on
the SFI tag. There shall be one original tag attached to one
of the two shoulder belts, one original tag attached to one
of the lap belts and a third original tag attached to the
crotch belt.
2. FIA 8853, incorporated herein by reference and
available at http://www.fia.com/ spor t /
Regulations/standregs.html, seat belts shall be valid for
five years from the year of manufacture. Belts are
stamped or printed with an expiration year. FIA seat belts
expire on December 31 of the year printed or stamped on
the FIA tag. FIA tags are located on each leg of the
shoulder belt and lap belt, and on one leg of the crotch
strap.

Is there a db limit at a school? My car typically is 99 during race weekends.

i didn't think it varied between race/de weekends, unless PCA says otherwise.

Noise limits are almost always because of a track rule, not a organizer rule. The only two tracks I know that have noise limits are both in Canada, Calabogie and Mont Tremblant.

Thats gonna be awful

I'll be there as well..

How do you know Black/White is combined, because this impacts me just a tad...

Kish - Sorry we gunna miss each other, Whats happening to the car for 2010? I'm be in the p-car this weekend so it not like we could be tossing it up in the e30s anyway.

-Russ

EDIT: I've ran at NJMP many a time with race cars during DEs, sound levels never an issue... (My experience anyway with BMWCCA and PCA)

Most DE events at Laguna Seca are 92db. I kid you not.

But isn't that a rule set by the track not set by the organizers of the HPDE.

50 cars is going to be ridiculous. I don't see why they don't combine both beginner and both intermediate and leave advanced and instructor alone.

Of course. The organizers would kill for louder days. When renting the track, an organizer must pay for 2 sound testers (one fixed, one roving) and cars are evaluated on a 3-strikes basis.

Laguna freed up an unlimited sound day (a Friday) in September this year. Only $30K for the track rental, plus services.

Pass.
