Z3 (E36/7, E36/8) (1996 - 2002) In 1996 BMW added the Z3 to the lineup. First available only with the 1.9 liter engine, the Z3 went on to carry every 6 cylinder produced between 1996 and 2002. A fun, sporty little 2 seater came both in convertible and coupe form. Being a bit of a “parts bin” car, the Z3 is part E30, part E36, but all original.

I just went to my dealer who recently acquired a 2001 M Roadster (PY with black int), they wanted 8000 dollars on top of my M Coupe (99 with 22000 miles) for the roadster. So, I'm guessing maybe you can get an S54 coupe for less than 8K plus your car.

Yuh I know. But I don't like the prices I've seen. I think I could just go to DTMotorwerks and get one from them cheaper. You guys want me to see if they want to set up the GB?

And like Chef said, I can't justify the current prices on superchargers. I always wondered what is AA's markup on the cost of these kits ...

Thanks John, but I would not consider the 2001, because as far as I know the earlier S54 M's are more prone to engine troubles. I think BMW did a few fixes for the 2002 models. Didn't they?

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't see any S54 owner ever trading for an S52.

Unless an S54 owner has gone for a ride in a blown S52!

I raced one S54, and the owner was shocked when I walked him.

The shear power and torque of a blown S52 is amazing!!

Russianmob: If you could get a ride in both, you'd appreciate how amazing the car is under boost. From the moment you touch the pedal, it pulls like a turbo car.
The S54 is amazing in a different way. You need to wind that engine out to attain its potential..
I'm just more of a torque lover!

I guess I need to hunt down a local M3/ZM owner with a supercharger and whine about getting a ride ...

Greg, you ever feel like wanting more? I feel that that would be a big problem for me once I get an AA S/C. For awhile I'd be very happy but sooner or later I'll be wanting more power. AA doesn't offer many choices in upgrades do they?

I think that would be great. If I can get in for around 4500 id be in for sure. I know there is that deal with some one around here who is offering 15% off the price of any aa product, 5600 at 15% is about 4700 I think. Let me know!

A conversation with AA or one of their distributors with $45,000 on the counter for 10 kits would be intersting. I doubt they would turn such an offer down.
If we can pull this thing off, then screw the S54.

If I am not mistaken, there are atleast 4 or 5 of us who are willing to do this deal for 4500. Maybe we can offer 22500 for 5 kits and see what goes on?

Anyone else up for a kit? I sure if I post this in the FI forum some one will get in on the action...

I just got off the phone with DTMotorwerks and they are talking with AA for a GB. Looks like they were already planning to do this GB before. Timing might be a little late for some people's liking tho, expect the GB to start during the end of summer. I think we have a better chance with DTMotorwerks as they will surely have the number of buyers meaning less cost. I'm just worried russian won't be able to wait that long and just get an S54 : (

[Dr Evil's voice] Don't worry momma, things won't get weird. [/Dr Evil's voice]

Let's wait for the GB. Looks like I will be too busy for the rest of the summer anyway - have 2 business trips within the US, 1 to Germany and 1 to Japan. I am in no hurry to pay the asking price.
