How much $ have you dropped in modding?

Just curious as to how much ~$ everyone has spent on their car mods, as I was thinking back to how much I spent on my 318i which was sold last week for a horrible $ loss. And of course now planning mods for the Z3(already started actually).

I figure I've spent ~$6k on mods alone in the 10 months that I've been into modding.

Yep, that's a fact jack... I can attest to that. Just don't tell his wife, she has a mean jab, even if she'd have to stand on a chair to smack him.

Personally, I perfer that "don't ask, don't tell" policy... that way the wife never has to know.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?

    It's like a marriage.....
    Once you take the plunge...
You keep dumping lotz 'o money in to the program
until one day you begin to wonder if it was all worth the expense.

That is until you get "back in the saddle" and do some hard riding.

we all mod for different reasons: some for cosmetics, some for speed, etc. I do it for performance, and have spent a little over $2k including labor to help my car turn and stop better for track events.

what's interesting, though, is that it never seems to end... every mod leads to another one. i.e. I have camber plates now, and the next logical step for more neutral handling is sways, then full coilovers, and then those will tax the tires, so I need a set of proper R compounds with track wheels... this stuff honestly never ends.

    that's the fun of it.

I've only spent a couple hundred on some used DDEs, but that's mainly because I'm saving up my money for when I get an E36 M3. Once I get that, I'll probably drop about 4-5k immediately on it.
