    Gas Mileage Game!

This oughta be kinda cool. Maybe not, though...

For those of you with full OBC, next time you get in your car, reset your Consumption 2 function (CONSUM2) and don't touch it again!

After a few tanks of regular driving, report what kinda gas mileage you're getting with your M3.

I reset my CONSUM1 for every tank, and haven't touched the CONSUM2 since I got it 4,000 miles ago.

    My MPG: 21.8

What if you don't have a full OBC?

Some of you guys need to learn how to add/subract/multipy/divide. And I'll learn to spell.

My tanks range between 19.8 and 21.8.

I haven't looked at my extended MPG in a while...

Whoever voted 16.1-18.0 needs to get their car checked out.

Whoever voted 22.0-25.0 needs to start driving their car up above 2.5K RPM every once-in-a-while.

Considering I drive ALL city, I get CRAP gas mileage. 18 or less I think... . I'm not the one that voted though.

23.1---Reset Cons 2 when I bought it in February.

Current tank is 25.7 and that includes 6 autocross runs from last weekend and highway driving 1 hour both ways. Highway mileage is usually 29-31.

I live in Colorado at 6000+ ft. I assumed gas mileage would suffer at this altitude but apparently it doesn't. Does anyone know why this would be? I drive pretty hard so it's not a light foot issue.

What is meant by 'extended' mpg? As for the above comment, thats not true at all. Most of my tanks achieve 15 to 17 mpg. Thats because most of my driving is spent around town, frequently exercizing the water injection system which doesnt even trigger til about 5000 rpms. With a supercharger, and rich tuning, its not hard at all to achieve only 15 or 16 mpg, especially if you use almost every acceleration opportunity as a chance to check out the max boost level of 11 psi . Yet, when I go on 300 mi road trip, Ill achieve 24 mpg no problem. With the dualistic nature of this stat, I dont know how Id answer the poll question...

    Low milage....

Any 95's with the Euro HFM/injectors have an altered reading. Even after entering the highest correction factor possible into the OBC, it's still off by about 20%. My car runs rich w/ 24lb injectors and I do mostly city driving, with a lead right foot, so I usually see 15-17 at best. If I take a long road trip, I probably see around 23-24. If your concerned with gas milage, go buy a 318 or a Honda!

Longer than a tank, or a trip around town.

Ya know, a few hundred or even a thousand miles.

I have 21k miles on my Cons2 22.8mpg. That includes multiple track days and serveral Auto-Xs. I get about 28 on the highway at 85.

Anyone that knows me knows that I Flog this thing every time I get in it. Its nice to get good milage.

Oh... well... if you're revving out every gear and going WOT at every opportunity, then I retract my statement.

    I was assuming sane driving.

Hey....I consider my driving perfectly 'sane'. Just because I choose to approach 6500 rpms in second and third gears doenst make it 'insane' provided conditions can support it After all, Im not talking about traveling at 'insane' rates of speed; rather Im talking about getting to or a little above the speed limit exceedingly quickly And, when youre supercharged, this uses alot of gasoline. As I said, I can get 15mpg driving like this, but I can also get 24 mpg driving 300 mi on the thruway. Dont forget, when you have forced induction, the ecu is rewritten to make you extra rich in open loop driving, so naturally, these applications will use more gas than the NA vehicle. In addition, dont use the OBC estimate of gas use. Instead, just fill it up right to the top, drive, refill, and divide the miles driven by the number of gallons it takes to fill it to the top again. For this to work, you need to refill to the same point you did the previous time. the best way to assure this is to fill almost to the point of overflow each time.

Yeah, my actual gas mileage (divide the miles on the trip odo by the gallons pumped) is consistently 1mpg lower than what the OBC says.

So I'm getting about 22mpg, which is even better than what my WRX was getting.

I just get (driving around the city) 16 or 17MPG in my 325... Everything is fine, I got the car checked for the high consumption at three different dealers. I was told that euros have a higher consumption than US cars

Of the top 10 things that lower my gas mileage, traffic is numbers 1 through 9. I can drive 100+mph all day and have much better mileage than getting stuck in rush hour traffic.

    By "sane" I meant... awww.

When I'm not racing or pissed off, I keep it below 4K. Everywhere I go.

This is what I meant. In other words, you drive your car hard -- which is no problem, but obviously will result in poor gas mileage, when combined with the typical F/I application.
