Hey I have a 83 320i with 125 k on the clock. This was my sisters car that sat in her garage fro years... I picked it up 2 years ago with 75 k..Since then, I've added limited slip.. ( going to post how to question on it ) , 5 speed( guess everyone knows that, working air, light green in color, installed new brakes, brake hoses, water pump, themo, belts, and bilstein yellow sport shocks along with 200 lbs rear springs..it's my d/d.. no issues- except that it runs hot ( gage wise) in LA summer with air on![]()
79 320i
Red repaint which ill redo
recaros, turbines, sport wheel, sunroof and all stock for now.
I grew up with e21's around more then i can remember. I wanted another for awhile now and also wanted to build something new and cheap. I own a place called eurotech motorsports in frederick MD. We have built tons of cars over the years. I picked it upoff craigslist and have been using it as my daily to keep the miles off my other cars. Im gonna get the stance right clean up a bunch of stuff put some wheels on it I have some OZ vega's that might go on and im a sucker for front airdams and lip spoilers. And also some Hella driving lights maybe eurobumpers and a motor swap down the road.
1980 320i 5 speed (just got it last weekend)
176k miles
Everything works except hazard switch & heater blower motor (suspect resistor?)
Very clean in and out, new paint, headliner, carpet.
15x7 (25ET??) 1.5" lip Rotas 205/50 tires, H&R Sport Springs (1.5" drop)
LSD? maybe haven't checked. I know it's a 3.64
The engine still has some life to it, rough idle, may need a head gasket soon ??? or just valve cover/oil pan gaskets
Want to upgrade or rebuild the engine so it has a little more power
I've had plenty of high HP cars, so having less is no big deal
Also want to upgrade the seats to E30 heated sports
and of course the stereo. Just 4x6 Alpines all around with Alpine HU for now

I expect if the E21 is from 1 forum member it's still part of the registry but due to title change the name of the E21's registry of him has changed...

Hello everybody,
Another newb here from Maryland. Actually made some post early this year about some idle problems I was having. Kinda' been lurking on the site looking for some inspiration for my 82 320is.
Paid $2000 in Oct 2008. (w/spare Ansa, and all five original 13" basket weaves.) Currently rolling on 15" MSW's.
139k when I got 145k now
What I've done this far (really just things to keep it running.)
-Replaced the loud ass muffler that was installed with the Ansa. Sounds much better.
-Plugs, wires, cap and Rotor.
-Spent $800 chasing an idle problem at BMW "Specialist"
-Rear wheel cylinders and shoes.
Problems:
-Rust, I know imagine that. Both rear corners under the tail lights, driver's side floorboard, both B pillars and both door sills.
-Bad valve guide/seals whatever you want to call them
-wicked shimmy at 45-50. Pretty standard from what I've read here.
Man, I am inspired by the likes of jrcook, madhatter, and everyone else.
I really appreciate the advice on my previous post.
Will try and post some pics when I figure out how, or maybe I need to make more post first.
Anyhow...
Cheers,
Mike

ok Hello
I got a
1983 320i
miles 110,xxx original and odometer still works

plans i want to do a m20b25 or a s14 engine swap, lsd, full scca aproved rollcage, exterior resto. and i'm sure theres more.
I might as well take the time to actually introduce myself officially. My name is Bill and I'm a first time 3 series owner. We picked up our little gem last week in Tuscon via craigslist and are loving it thoroughly! It's an 83 320is with 162k and only 2 prior owners. No rust, a/c, Recaro's and even the original radio (soon to be replaced as it crackles & pops whenenver you so much as look at the volume), Henna Red, 5 spd, lsd with 3.91's. It's in need of a few trim pieces here & there but nothing major. When we got it home I was looking thru the blove box and found all the original paperwork & books for it with all the stamps from BMW up to about 120k miles.
Plans are to keep it original for now and just drive it & love it. I have all new front end bushings & engine gaskets coming and I've already posted about the need for some sunroof brackets. I'm looking forward to the carshows, meet & greets and networking with local members.

I'm not sure what to do with it at the moment...
I have seen some of them look pretty slick but it's such an old car no power steering I don't know if i could use it as a daily...
Will get some pics soon but it is interstate from me now.
Any idea what something like the above mentioned in mint condition is worth? It's only been driven by my grandma to the shops and back.

Purchased few weeks ago for #2 and about a month for #1
Mods: Make it drive and make it to point B.

Hello,
I just wanted to introduce myself - I came over to this forum today,

Greetings.
Just bought a 1979 321i off my brother-in-law for $200.
Has 160k miles on it. Runs but very roughly and likely will be a project for some time.
Has the A/C option. Also has a moon roof. Don't know what else might be optional on it, but I am excited about this. Ready to jump in.
A hearty thank you for the resources here as well as the help I have already received.
I believe once I post this I will have 10 posts so I will try and edit it after and add pictures.
The car is currently a nice light blue, but there is evidence that it once was red. More to come.

1980 320i. Original owner. About 160K miles before the odometer stopped working. Stock, stock, stock. Cloth interior (seats) pretty ragged- that upholstery with the conspicuous ribbing did not hold up too well....
Pretty much the usual maintenance issues (front end shimmy, clutch master and slave cylinders, idler pulley, AC stopped working long ago, replaced radiator when it got gummed up and would overheat, ignition wires, fuel pump). Pretty boring stuff compared to the fancy stuff in other postings. Still runs well, not much oil use.
Wow, you may be the only original owner here, although a few have E21's that have been in their families since new. Post pics when you can.
Here are my e21's. My current ride is a Henna Red 1982 320i, a work in progress (aren't they all!). My first e21 was this Henna Red 1981 320i. The PO did all of the mods, Hartge spoiler, Hartge 15x7 rims with 205/50/15 tires. He also blacked out all of the bright work including the bumpers. He painted the mirrors the body color as well as the fog light bars. I have saved the spoiler and rims/tires for my current e21 which, eventually, will be added to my current e21.
