So you're saying the 2.0 air flow meter is a bolt in swap w/the 1.8?

it is a direct bolt in as your going to get,the only thing is you have to switch the bottom halves of both the vafs,so put the bottom half of the 2.0 on the 1.8 vafs.otherwise you have to run the stock airbox and cant clamp on your intake. its well worth the small amount of money it costs to do. and a noticible differance! easy to do as well just kinda a pain if you dont take off the intake,which you dont need to do,then its a really tight spot and the rubber boot will take the longest just getting those hose clamps back on. but go for it. its a nice little mod.
I read somewhere that there are careful adjustments and setting that must be made when opening the AFM. Have you checked your AFR? Maybe pull the plugs?
Might be worth the investment to do a little research. My budy has a dyno shop so I can test everything, so when I get a chance (the parts roundup), I'll see what I can do...

It would only require a simple mixture adjustment, 30 seconds with a 3mm allen key. Tune by ear, butt dyno, air fuel ratio meter, or have the CO% adjusted at a shop. Since you're running the same fuel distributor, the control pressures can stay the same.Originally Posted by EFreak

Yep - I have done this mod on lots of old VWs that got bigger engines. 60mm flow plate to 80mm REALLY makes a difference when you have an engine capable of 120-150hp. That little plate chokes the shit out of airflow.

What HP boost can be expected from this? I think I can do a similar swap for my car from a porche or a vw??? Or can a 4cyl kjet swap on to a 6cyl distributor?

here is a question? the intake boot from the 60mm is compatible with the 80mm afm? there is any modification involved in the boot?
