Can someone please check if your ICV making a buzzing sound every time you turn your key to ON (without starting the car) or when you shut off the car...
My ICV making a buzz sounds all the time.
I take it off, cleaned and I can see that the small door inside stays half open all the time, even when I turn it ON, it buzzez but the door wont operate.
Do you think its normal or should I replace it?
I wanted to order a new one tomorrow from the dealer but first I want to see if someone noticed that problem too?
Here is the link to ICV Valve: (I think its the same in e36 & e46 models)

There is no need to check, yes they buzz, they are designed to buzz so that is normal function...
The Bentley repair manual lists the "buzzing" as one of the checks to verify that the ICV is functioning correctly. If its not buzzing then its gunked up and needs cleaning. I don't remember the page number but its in there.

Says in Bentley on page 130-20 under "idle speed control valve, testing"
1. With engine running, check that idle speed control valve is buzzing.
That would lead me to believe its supposed to.
does the car run ok...do you have any check engine lights on?
