Pics to follow, but I received three nice packages in the mail yesterday:
Box 1: UUC sway barbarians
Box 2: AA w/a injection
Box 3: assorted goodies from AA to include HG, headbolts, 3" powerdercoated piping, larger injectors, HFM, larger fuel pump, racing bypass valve, and the much anticipated GT35r; everything to get me into Stage 2 I guess you could say.
Car goes under the knife on Wednesday and should be good to go in a couple weeks! I should make around 420 to the wheels at 15 psi...but always hoping for a little more.
I'm finally looking forward to that neck-snapping turbo fun I've always craved. I figured what the hell, time to do it right.

I have to run larger piping, modified engine mount, and a modification to my AC...not exactly sure what, but I have a bracket for it.

Congratulations! That is going to be so sick! From the 20g to the GT35R...you won't know what hit you........in the back!
I was bummed about the whole Joe and GT30R promise and you ending up getting like 298whp or whatever with S1 but now you are going big! So glad to hear it!
I hope they use one of the more aggressive tunes they sent to ICS and get your car in 500whp territory!
I know, I was hoping for 350rwhp initially, but I must say that at least getting a taste of boost from a flawless kit has given me the courage to go big now. I am really hoping for 450rwhp, but you never know. I spoke with Karl and he advised that anything over 450 would start to bend rods so I should go with a built motor....I'll save that for when my motor needs a rebuild down the road...but I'm just a little stoked to at least set myself for future success now!

Well, it's all in the tune (and compression ratio of course). Detonation is detonation and a built motor doesn't mean that you can run more boost. It just gives a little more protection in the event of detonation.
I don't have WI and run 18 psi on 93 octane. With WI they should be able to tune it so you can run at least what I'm running without it.
Well, since it is AA's kit, it is their tune. After I have it dynoed, I'll see what they can do.

What size is the HG??? That makes all the difference on what boost levels you can run.

Actually, I'm not 100% sure. It is from AA.

Wow, AA has a off the shelf tune for a GT35R now? Also keep us up to date about the AC mod, I'm interested to see what exactly you need to trim to fit the intake piping.

So I guess the question is what is the safest amount of boost you can run with the GT35r and just a thicker head gasket?

Congratz man!!!! GT35R!
Thanks, this is it for me as far as power goes. I think even 450 or so to the rear wheels will be enough for me...until the engine goes. Then, rebuild the internals.
Next up, repainting the car. I give that a couple years though. Need to let the bank account build up again.

I'm calling today. Luckily, I'll be out of town until the end of the week, so hopefully, Monday I'll be going to pick up the car.

Allright, the big day is almost here. After waiting pretty much a month (due to waiting on BMW specific tools, gaskets, etc.) I should be getting my car back either this monday or tuesday. I won't be able to get it dynoed until probably the 11th of November or so, but we'll see. Everything has run pretty smooth.
My only concern is that my performance shop is a little weary about AA's headgasket. I'm not sure if it is a valid concern and I know AA has run it on plenty of cars, but that just raised the uh-oh flag for me. Does anyone know off bat what the thickness of the headgasket is? I'm looking to run 18 psi on this headgasket and w/a injection and I want to be sure than I can safely do so on 93 octane.

That depends on how you define "BEND".
I have spoken with Karl about this, and I have had conversations with Conforti about this (at least back when he used to talk to me).
They have both experienced rod FLEXING at about the 450whp level during testing. That does not mean plastic deformation or permanent damage, but it does mean noticable flexing of the rods.
An engine may work for quite a while under conditions such as this, but that does not mean it is a good thing, and eventually it is going to lead to failures due to high side loads on pistons and rings, and possible fatigue damage to the rods and/or bearings...
Steve
Have you been Screwed?
Stimpee, maybe you can answer my previous question...do you know the thickness of the AA headgasket?
