DIY: e36 Outer Door Handle Replacement

I just swapped out my door handles on my 330ti with "BMW Motorsport" handles. In the process, I made a DIY. This is how I did it on my ti, but i would assume it is almost, if not the same, for the coupe and sedan. The only difference there might be is if there is enough room to do it with the window in place on the coupe/sedan. The window can be left in place in the ti.

Great DIY those pics would really help a lot. Mine are all messed up, so I might need new ones also, teh previous seller used some caulking or something to stop the door handle falling off.

Nice writeup, looks good. HOw long did it take you? Do you now have 2 different sets of keys, one to unlock the door and the other to start it?

    Hi,

I'd also like to know how long it took you.

Any tips other than those mentioned in the DIY?

    Thank you for the writeup!

Here are the details about the handles. I bought them from Germany (www.sanituning.com). http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=481389

They were coded by that company to my original car keys so I still only need the one original key for the doors and ignition.

As far as time, if everything goes smoothly, it could be as little as 30 min. It took me an hour or so for each side. First side was figuring it out, the second side was taking pictures for the writeup.

All the key tips are in the write up. It's really not hard, but I kept reading how much of a PITA it was going to be. It's not something to fear.
