Who here is from Kansas City, KANSAS...

Start filling me in with anything cool/interesting about the city and where the nice parts of town are (rich areas)...I already know about the museum that is rectangualr shaped and is set up like some giants are playing badminton :

I am on my last leg with this girl in my class from KC, KS and I am thinking I can surprise her with some 'knowledge' of where she comes from

Thanks guys

Your talking about the Nelson Art Gallery. And no there arent giants playing badmiton. There are 2 giant(10ft or so tall) birdies. The things you hit when you play badmiton. We also have a museum for minitures. Its all miniture things.

There's also Liberty Memorial. Its the only WW1 memorial in the US. It just reopened about 2 years ago. Its been completely restored.

The Country Club Plaza is a good place to mention. The guy who built it traveled to Seville, Spain. And designed the Plaza as a scale model of Seville. You used to be able to take a trolly tour of the Plaza and parts of downtown KC. But, they stopped giving tours last year. Kind of sucks cause they were always pretty interesting.

Kansas City is called the City of Fountians. We are the 3rd city with the most fountians.

On most weekends and sometime during the week, you can go to the City market down on the river front and walk around. They have farmers out there selling produce, people selling art, all sorts of stuff.

Westport is a real popular place. Its basically nothing but bars and clubs.

There's the sports stadium. Chiefs and Royals stadiums. We also just got the Kansas T-bones baseball team. Minor league team. They are over by the Kansas Speedway.

If she is into the Jazz. We have the Jazz district at 18th and Vine.

There's also Crown Center. Its a shopping area of sorts. Its built by Hallmark cards, right next to there main offices. Since KC is the home of Hallmark.

Union Station would be something. Its now some sort of Science center. but, the building was restored to the way it was in the 1930's. There are still bullet holes in the front of the building from when a gangster was gunned down. Dont remember the guys name though.

There's a lot more to KC then that. You can check out www.aroundtownkc.com and find more.

The rich parts of town are Leawood, Ks. Mainly Hallbrook, in Leawood. But, Johnson County, Ks is pretty much the richest area of KC. Overland Park, Ks; Leawood, Ks; Shawnee,Ks; Mission,Ks; and Leas Summit, Mo are pretty much the best areas of KC.

Did you find out exactly what part of KC she if from? Cause KCK isnt the best of areas. KCK isnt that big either. And then I can give you some info about that part. Anything in the actual KCK city limits isnt a real good area. KC is a metropolis. So, anything but KCK and KCMO are probably a little better, then the actually city itself.

Sadly, I live inside KCMO city limits. But, Im right on the Kansas/Missouri state line by Leawood, Ks. So, its somewhat tolerable.

I dont know where she lives in KC exactly, she seems like she lives in the suburbs or even moreso further out. She's really quiet and reserved. She doesn't really talk to anyone unless they talk to her. Which makes it so difficult :

Well, then talk to her. tell her you know she's from KC and your thinking about coming out here to check out KC. Most of the girls from KC are either that way, or the complete opposite. its either one extreme or the other, almost no inbetween.

KC is a great city for sure, and there really isn't much of a distinction between KCK and KCM... just a bridge...

KC on the whole is a great city, I can rattle off great places to eat till the cows come home, and between westport and the jazz district you've got a lot of things to do...

the wife and I spend one or two weekends a year on the plaza... usually catch a ball game, some jazz, good eats and a lot of time relaxing in the bar at the Capital Grille

Best place I ever went to near KC is Westin. They have a great irish bar that is underground in the old wine cellars. I spent the whole day there and plan on doing it again soon.

You'ld be surprised at how different they are. KCK is worse then KCMO. Almost all the drug busts, shottings, gangs, prostitution is all in KCK. When your around long enough you can start to see the differences. But, KC is alright. Im not a big fan of this city much any more. I guess spending 90% of my life here, it gets boring after awhile. But, in a month or two I'll be out of here.

Weston. Home of the McCormick plant and cheap cheap vodka. THe bar is called O'Malleys, it really is a great place. It would really suck to be there if it caught on fire though... Try to find out where she's from. She might just be saying KC if she's from out of town, just to give an area. I met a girl awhile ago who said she was from Dallas and I asked where in Dallas. She said Waco.

The girl is from Shawnee Mission, KS....

Although I'm not interested in her anymore. Don't ask why. Just lost interest in the girl.
