Update with a taste of Inka awesome on page 3...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I campaigned my 95 M3 in SCCA XP all last year, which as some of you know is the balls out, no mod too crazy class for autocross.
I was running against full carbonfiber S2000s with 9 million HP, turbo-charged Factory Five Cobras, 240 with LSX swaps, etc.
My little M3 just was honestly too "normal" for the XP class.
* I would always get, "you car is so pretty for a XP car"
Sure, it had a partially gutted interior (I still have half my carpet, and a full dash) and a TRM tuned supercharger, but it just weighted too much, and didn't have enough rubber on the ground to hang with the XP boys.
**Official weight at the last National Tour event was 2750 with half a tank of fuel.
Solution? de-class the car down to SM!
So I started sourcing a full black leather interior for my car.
As my pile of expensive interior started to add up, I really questioned my decision.
Did I want to step down to SM so I would be more competitive on a (silly) PAX chart? or did I want to go FULL RETARD with my car and see if I could address some of the issues I encountered the previous year?
Well, I after changing my mind about 37 times, I settled on the obvious choice: FULL RETARD!
So with DE/Autocross season less than a month away, we are rushing to get her ready...
1. Paint! My first BMW (in 1989) was an Inka colored 2002.
I am paying tribute to the DTM cars of the 80s/90s with Jagermeister inspired livery.
Similar to:
2. MEAT! Gone are the 245s on 18x9...
Their replacement? How about 18x10 (ET25) with Hoosier A6 in 315/30/18?
3. Body- I started with a DTMFiberwerkz GTR fender/flare kit, and have to SERIOUSLY alter them to work.
4. Aero- DEEP splitter + 2 element big boy wing from Ciro Design
5. (insert top secret go fast mod here) Shhhhh.....
So, I started tearing her down:
Fender liners? Gone!
Hmmm....NOICE!
Mocked up, prior to moving it to paint and body
Measure twice...cut once...
Aftermath
and the bodywork begins
First fit of the 315s
As you can see, we will need to get medieval with the fenders.
I am also going to add another 10mm spacer (for a total of 20mm) in the front so I can clear the coilovers
More to follow....

Can't wait to see the finished product!
Got any vids?

Oh, this thread is moving in the right direction.
nice work.. can you go into detail for something for me? When cutting the stock rear fenders, once you get to a certain height, you separate the panels. How did you end up closing them together, or sealing them together before bonding the rear flare? And what bonding agent did you use for that? Thanks!

LOL, I was thinking this thread may contain a 1.5L engine...

Yes! It's weird following this on here and the two Facebook pages but soooooooooo worth it.
Sent from 10minutes in the future.
Just out of curiosity, did you buy those XXRs for test fitting purposes or are they your new track wheels? Do the factory lug bolts work in the holes?
I'm interested to see how these hold up.
I'm loving this! Keep it up!
Can't wait to see the finished product
Yowza...are you going to fit fender liners later on? I was under the impression that it was important for optimal airflow.
Looks like it's going to be a monster, looking forward to it.
The XXRs were a fast and cheap solution to work with while I get things dialed in.
As far as "holding up" I have a buddy that has 2 seasons of HPDE and National Tour events on his.
I don't have factory bolts, but no, they wouldnt work.
There is absolutely no way fender liners will fit with these wheels/tires or these GTR fenders (without serious modification)
I already have clearance issues, so liners only make things worse.

Yessssssssssss
You can fit a 315 on a 10" wheel?
This is awesome OP! I'm actually in the process of doing a fender flare setup on my e36 as well
1) First question when you cut the rear fender I see the second layer of sheet metal but where is the third? Is it even further back than the second layer?
2) I'm guessing when welding it up you basically bring all three layers to the front and run a bead along them to weld shut correct?
3) If I weld up all the layers and spray undercoating all up in there should this be sufficient for a street car? I don't wXant to get moisture inside the cabin, tire smoke, etc.
4) What spacers are you running out back?
Keep this updated I can't wait to see the finished product!!!
5) Arent you going to have to cut the front bumper for tire clearance when turning?
