Hah im already 4" lower than stock, i know this because i measured against rudy's e21 when he stopped by a couple weeks ago
As of now i daily drive it like this, catalytic converter scraping on every speedbump, occsionally oil/front subframe planking on speedbumps, and under full lock i slightly rub the front fenders
your so lucky!!
looks damn good man. How much did all the chrome strips run you and where did you order from?
I got them off BavAuto, Bavarian Autosport
Front Single Lockstrip: $41.95 Part # : 51 31 1 835 890
Rear Upper Lockstrip: $31.95 Part # : 51 31 1 835 725
Rear Lower Lockstrip: $31.95 Part # : 51 31 1 835 726
that's pretty cheap for such a big improvement. Do they come with the corner and flat joining pieces?
My dad ordered my chrome trim
No but i think those are also available, if not then theyre on either real oem or maximillian imports
Update: i dont like how same day posts are automerged
Yesterday i spent most of the day removing my struts and reassembling them for the vw mk1 strut inserts and ground control camber plates to be put on.
compared to the e21 bilstein sports, the vw mk1 strut inserts are exactly 6" shorter with the same diameter shock body and same amount of travel.
modified strut housing with the stock spring perches cut off.
Neil at Oceanside Motorsports taking car of cutting down the struts.
Cut out 2 3/4" out of the strut housing and welded exhaust tubing around the strut to reinforce it. Also had the next door machine shop mill a 2 3/4" spacer to drop at the bottom of the strut housing. Someone may do the math here a see the theres still a 1/2" of difference left for the shock body to pertrude out of the top of the strut housing, however the top threaded portion of the strut insert is exactly 1/2" shorter than the e21 bilsteins threaded portion. (refer to first picture)
All reassembled after being shot with some paint on the bare metal.
Also i failed to use antiseize on the tie rods when i last assembled them so the removal of the tie rods inihilated the threads so i had to purchase new tie rod ends.
Camber plates set to neutral postition, can adjust for negative camber but i will save that for autocrosses.
Can see the springs through the camber plates
vw mk1 strut inserts/Ground Control camber plates project completed with a mere 3/4" of travel before, and now having 2.5" of travel with no adjustment to the ride height on the coilover sleeve, also didnt change the position of the sleeve perch on the strut because we cut out just above that perch.

It must be in you and your sisters genes.

'83 320i in the works
Got the non ac console mounted and headunit rewired.
The shifter boot i had in before, i super glued into the shifter console sooo i need to order a new leather boot for this non ac shifter console
Also in the upcoming, will be new headunit followed by speakers, amp, and sub
Purchased a clean e12 large tool kit, has the same mounting as a sport e21 tool kit just a slightly different molding on the inside.
What car did that tool kit tray came out of??? Looks sweet!!!!
I can't wait to see this car in a few weeks.
Installed a new Kenwood KIV-701 headunit along with four new Infinity Kappa 462.9cfp 4x6 speakers all around with new speakers wire and had my friend heat shrink everything while i routed the speaker wires
Installed my e28 chrome window crank handles
Also retrofitted a early model e30 sunvisors and panel, along with a e30 rear view mirror with maplights that i have yet to wire to my domelight
Will upload pictures from a cannon 50d once my friend sends them to me
Digging the early e30 panel/visors. I've put in e30 visors without that panel, but that REALLY cleans it all up nicely. Outstanding work man!
