Only 3 Baurs imported?! wow
As far as we knw, there were only three Baurs officially imported by BMW dealers meeting US specs in place at the time. We don't know (yet) how many others were brought in by private persons through the 'grey market'.
We are searching for them, and here is a chronicle of our efforts so far:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1566814
I also have a blog dedicated to the same thing:
http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/
We have definitely identified 48 E21 Baurs by Baur plate number, and we have unconfirmed reports of about 35 more. There are probably many others that we simply haven't heard about yet.... like this one possibly.
A new discovery is always exciting, so we are much obliged to you for posting this for us! Thank you, and stay tuned while we try to pin this one down! I have already put in a call to the craigs list phone number.

That doesn't look like a Baur to me...?
I'm not seeing Baur here either. But then again I'm not a BMW macanic
The seller must have changed the picture. The picture posted by tomscat1 was the one in the ad originally.
Oh then that makes much more sense! haha
Yes, i agree. That pic has been changed. Could he take a worse picture? What did he use, a cheap night vision lens? Sheesh.
He appears to have changed it sometime after I called him and left a message about the "BMW Baur" he had pictured for sale. Probably explains why he hasn't called me back, also.
Looks like a false alarm, fellas.

He took a picture.. of a picture on a computer screen.
Either way, you guys should check it out.
Seller told me this pic is the same car as in the original pic in the ad. He said the car is NOT a convertible, and it has a sunroof. The car in the original pic is clearly a Baur... you can see the tonneau cover on the trunk lid. So he is either mistaken or deliberately misleading. I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt, in that I dont think he knows very much about BMWs at all: he stated it was a 1982 4 cyl 4 speed. I thought that BMW was putting mostly 5 speeds in these cars by 1982. I dont think he ever checked closely. FWIW.
For $600, it reportedly has 63K on it, very little rust. If the problem is just a simple fuel pump issue.... it may be worth a look despite the above.
Caveat emptor, though.
