Hi Harry,
I saw two pics of what I believe were the same white E21 (steel wheels), but I didn't see the front spoiler. They were in e21newcomer's pics.... but I couldn't get them to post here.

That should be the two pics, if I got it right this time.![]()

Hi Tom,
It seems like there were two white E21's at the event. The one I am asking about shows up at about 1:15 on this video:
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA-LV_F89o8[/ame]
By the way, from the pictures I've seen over at the 2002FAQ board, there were at least three E30 Baurs at the event, two red ones and a dark-colored (anthracite?) one.
Hopefully I'll be able to make it next year!

Hi Harry,
Thanks for posting that video from 2002FAQ. I grazed through it just now... and found the following... I am sure that I missed some.
50 secs: red E30 Baur Lic plate: HI C 211
1:15 : the white E21 that you refer to with the Motorsport air dam
4:53 : the other red E30 Baur Lic Plate 84Baur
5:22 : Steve's E21
6:19 : the white 2002 Baur with the Targa roof on the front hood
6:38 : the black E30 Baur TC2
8:16 : the other white E21 with the steel wheels
What'd I miss?![]()

I counted five E21s
Larry Wilson: White E21 w/ steelies.
Steve: The E21 that needs no introduction.
Matt (from Asheville): Dark blue barn-find E21. Not a spot of rust. Even had the vial of OEM touch-up paint in the glove compartment. He's looking to sell and will take $1400 OBO!!
Shawn Sullivan: Black E21 with the gorgeous RAs. If you haven't seen this car up close, you need to. In workmanship, this machine is a close second to Steve's space-program work.
Guy from Greensboro with the Faupina: Gorgeous White E21 rebuilt to look and act like an Alpina. I noted his name but don't have my notes/camera with me. Hence no pics.
It was awesome to meet Shawn and Steve.
Layne, sorry I didn't catch you!
Next year, I'm definitely going to be better prepared and plan to make a whole day out of it.
Regards,
Eric P.

I confused the black one and the dark blue one.... they look almost the same color in the pics. I should have looked more carefully. Mea culpa.
That white one with the Alpina decals is a 5 series, right?

No wonder I didn't see it. I only have eyes for E21s.
Matt's "Barn find"
Ok so the RF fender definately needs attention and the drivers seat is toast.
Paint on the gas door was peeled and there was one bump on the RR quarter.
Otherwise there was Not. A. Spot. Of. Rust.

I knew that white one with the Alpina decals didn't look quite right, but I couldn't put my finger on it... front turn signals were wrong.... rear roof line has a line in it.... it was about then that I counted the doors!
Duh! How did I miss THAT!!!

Hmmm. I count 5 E21s. Two whites, one black, one dark blue, and yours, Steve.
But I am not counting too well, as we have already seen.
Maybe someone wasn't registered. ??

Hi everyone! I am Matt, the one with the "Barn Find" e21 at Vintage. It was nice meeting fellow e21 and e30 lovers. And WOW that black e21 is inpirational! So my question is this. If you had a trully rust free e21 that is basically 100% original including the dealer cassette deck cleaning kit. Would you drop a M42 into it and setup the suspension? Or would you take it back to showroom condition and hope the value goes up? I enjoy modifing my cars and I am deep into my e30 cabrio build but on the other hand I cant bring myself to desecrate the holy originality of the car. If it were a rust bucket there would be no question, but as it is there is the pang of guilt when modifications come to mind. Your Thoughts?
Hi Matt,
Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the great find!
As to your question, you will probably get as many different opinions as you get answers here. Everyone has their own reasons for doing what they do.
I am a history and preservation buff, so I would say keep it original, but... Don't hold your breath for the value to increase much.Sorry.
Then go get another one to throw that M42 in, and all the mods you want!
But that's just me, and if you look at my sig, you can see the trouble that has gotten me into!! So, since I want to STAY married, I am at my car limit.....at least for now.
But I am always looking.
Welcome!

Great pics! Thanks!
I see that the Faupina is Greg LaValle's, which explains why it looks so nice. They've done some great restorations at his shop.
I noticed that it has an aftermarket rear bumper/skirt. US version originally? I am debating whether to paint the rear bumper or not if and when I install the Motorsport front bumper/spoiler on my car.

That belongs to my friend Todd. ("alpinacsi" in the e24 forum here) That's his daily driver. It's a "real" alpina in that is has all the proper parts and number plaque, but the original body steel was rusted away and it has been built onto a different body.
Hi Matt, I really enjoyed looking at your car since it's the exact color inside and out of my first E21 (there was also a lapis E24 there you should check out). As much as we all like to think our cars are special though, they just aren't. Do whatever you want to it. The value will remain rock bottom no matter what.

Congrats, That's pretty impressive for an E21 to make the cover of a 2002 event magazine.
