Post Club Race at Road Atlanta with VDCA

Saturday February 20 through Sunday February 21, 2010: Sponsoring Chapter: Peachtree Chapter
Please join the Peachtree Chapter BMW CCA for our first race-only event, with our hosts, VDCA (a vintage racing group). Those of you who have participated in Tar Heel chapter Club Races will be very familiar with the excellent organization and camaraderie of the VDCA folks.

For our local competitors, it's an early-season chance to scrape the rust off and test out all those improvements you've made over the winter. For our snow-bound friends from up north, it may not be sunny and warm, but odds are we won't be racing in the snow.

The temperature averages for the weekend are 57/34, but no promises of nice weather are expressed or implied!

As is done with Tar Heel, we are organized as a run group within the vintage event weekend.

Schedule
Both Saturday and Sunday's schedule will include practice, qualifying, and 40-minute (first car on to last car off) sprint races, with a total of 3 hours of track time for the weekend.

The tentative schedule has Saturday's race in mid-afternoon, and Sunday's racing concluded by about 4:00pm.

Tire Service
At this point, we are not expecting to have Tire Service available.

Registrar Information
Our registrar is Patty Sledge, and she can be reached via email, at patty@peachtreebmwcca.org
Registration opens: Jan 2

Will there be a pig/oyster/beer party like at Roebling?
Good times!

Not this year. If successful we will likely play with the format in future years, possibly adding a 3rd day or making one of the weekend races an enduro. -- $325 for 3 hours of tracktime at Road Atlanta? That's one heck of a deal!

Good times!
There will be something Saturday evening, but will not be as grand a spread as at Roebling...Details not solid enough to announce yet.

Appreciate the enthusiasm Mike, and every Tarheel event I've attended has, in fact, been great, but please note this is a Peachtree event!

Everybody, set your reminders and please register early and often, starting this Saturday. The more entrants that Peachtree and VDCA receive, and the earlier we receive them, will have a direct bearing on the Saturday night 'spread'!

Sounds like it will be a good time but my car will not be done in time...hence the enduro question (codriver). Good luck!

Different format, but yes. Will be a little more low-key than the traditional Roebling spread.

Saturday Night Party
Plan to stick around Saturday night for Mexican food, beer and soft drinks. Yes, we will be indoors, as Dick Barbour is graciously opening his shop next to the track for us.

Quantities will be limited, so we are restricting this to a maximum of driver and one crew member, please.

Annual Tech
Also, pay attention to your annual tech. You must have a current annual tech. I know that NASA's all expire each year on 12/31 so you must get your NASA annual before the race weekend.

Balanced Performance in Sugar Hill does NASA inspections by appointment, by the way.

If you're planning to participate but haven't registered yet, please hit the website and get registered!

As far as I know that would only apply if the car is running in a "guest class" (Spec3 or SE30)

NASA and SCCA tech forms do nothing for me...........or for the participants. Must have BMW CCA Annual tech before you come.

As most people know, it is also inherently flawed — the rear-engine sports car is a silly, pointless thing, a machine that defies logic and throws a great big middle finger at the laws of physics.

Patrick, that's not how SpecE30 was handled at Ofest. SpecE30 competitors supplied NASA logbooks with a NASA annual and a CCA event tech form.

I reference section 4, page 29, paragraphs 2 and 3 from the 2010 rules, which is reinforced by clarification 09-0001:

4 NON-BMW CCA CLUB RACING CLASSIFICATIONS
1. BMW’s, defined to be BMW-manufactured chassis and engine
combinations, prepared to and competing in other non-vintage
regional or national sanctioning bodies programs may participate in
BMW CCA Club Racing adhering to the applicable sanctioning
body's class preparation rules and within the class for which they
are prepared.
2. Competitors must be able to present an official copy of the most
current rules and regulations applicable to the declared class.
3. Competitors must present a logbook complete with a current annual
inspection issued by the sanctioning body for the declared class at
Technical Inspection.

The NASA book is only a part of the formula. All safety gear must meet BMW CCA Standards so I have to inspect all cars that do not have a BMW CCA Club Racing Annual tech form and Log Book. Also please check all dates on your belts and nets since this is the first event of the year for a number of you. I pasted the second half of the section since you ran out of room in your post
Look forward to seeing all of you in a few weeks!!!

4. Competitors must comply with all of the declared class vehicle
preparation rules without exception.
5. Personal safety gear (including but not limited to: head and neck
restraint, suit, shoes, gloves, helmet, arm restraints, etc.) must
meet or exceed BMW CCA Club Racing requirements.
a. Interior nets are highly recommended
