Did it last year with Drew's Run, tons of fun.
Good plan is to get a hotel for a night in knoxville, party, and wake up early to crash the dragon. not too many people on there during early morning hours.

Hows early summer sound, probably first weekend in june or late in may?
I can organize reservations to a hotel, probably with some discounts, dinner the night before. If your cheap, two or three to a room works. or twelve. I can arrange that too.
Meet at the parking lot/ boat launch at the entrance to the tail, then cruise it up and back a few times.
If I can get some commitment, I'll get this started early, sooner I do it cheaper the ritzy hotel will be.
and sorry to ruin the camping idea, but that much stuff in the trunk of your car while speeding through the dragon makes for a not so fun run... last time I did it they made me put 5 48 packs of red bull in my trunk, plus our bags packed for a week plus a cooler. Oversteer at all the worst moments, it was a handfull.
