No, I didn't I followed the console directions on the site Bavariansoundworks.com and read nothing about having the battery disconnected in the installation PDF or the videos on the site. I just reread the instructions and noticed that there the Dice booklet has a single line about it. However, the BSW instructions that come with the manual (saying "READ THIS OR THE DICE WONT WORK PROPERLY") says nothing about having the battery disconnected.

No problem. How do I fix the install?

Perform the following steps:

1. Disconnect iPod from cable
2. Remove battery cables, negative first
3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.
6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed.

Let me know if these steps correct the problem.

Just to make sure, I don't have to disconnect the DICE or anything? I can just leave it all wired in place?

Thanks,
A

Yes, you will want the DICE connected (Pod unplugged) when the battery reset is performed so it will detect properly.

It did not work. Followed instructions exactly. The Ipod is not seen by the DICE (it never says that it is connected).

Any other ideas?

I would verify if you have +12V going to the middle wire on the 3-pin adapter with a multimeter or light tester.

Remember, it was already working at one point. Would it work at all without the +12v?

The DICE will not work at all without power.

Ok, so the +12v power isn't a problem. Any other ideas?

None other than having the kit bench tested or inspected by a local audio facility to see if something is wrong with the wiring and/or connections.

Quick question on the Radio interface kit... I plan on installing a kit on a 95 M3 (with a CD43 headunit) and would like to have the Dock connector routed to the sunglasses holder below the OBC...

Where does the actual dice module fit best? I am assuming that won't fit directly behind the CD43. Is there someplace fairly obvious to put the unit when I try to install it. I don't want to pull the trigger on this just to find out that the module sits loose behind the radio and rattles around back there while driving (I would assume that this isn't the case but just want to make sure).

Thanks.

There's a pocket behind the gauge cluster that can be used - it will be seen when the radio is removed.

I have spent about an hour looking through all posts and was unable to find anything...I just received the Radio Interface DICE kit for my 2003 X5. It had the Business CD, nothing fancy like nav or anything.

My problem is I am having a hard time finding installation instructions for the Radio Interface kit...I am new to working on these things, can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
Casey

While these instructions are specifically for the ILP, the same harness is used for DICE applications:

I just got the unit that mounts on back of radio. I have 05 e53 x5. Plan on installing tonight. Did not get instructions. Looks easy and radio is easy to get out. Any special pointers.

Is anyone successfully using the new 5th Gen iPods (nano specifically) with their DICE SilverLine? I've got a relatively new unit (installed in August or so) if that matters.
