Today's Special: Smoked DJ Auto's & Depo Corners

I was getting tired of my stock US housing w/ ghetto rigged city lights. After my previous set of DEPO's, I was over the whole lighting game but decided to try out the DJ autos. I'm impressed with the build quality for something that's $100. I also picked up some smoked Lamin-X for protection and style. I was curious on how the smoked theme would look on my car...

US Headlights with DIY city lights/Depo smoked corners

Decided to spray the smoked corners because they looked "clear" compared to the lamin-x. I wanted a more uniform look. I used Testors Transparent Black (about $6 @ Hobby People). Finished it with some high gloss acrylic enamel. Wet sanded.

Finshed product w/ DJ auto's installed (pictures can never do the finish any justice)

See its not that bad!

I will try to get some nicer shots with the city lights/low beams on soon if anyone is interested. So, what do you guys think?

so the close up is before or after the paint and gloss? I always thought the corners should match the headlights more. More pics but i like it.

The close up is after I painted the corners. I think I wet sanded them more after I took these pics. They look a little more glossy now. Almost like the original plastic finish. I want to take more pics with the lights on. The lighting in all my pictures throws off the finish a little bit.

ehhh..smoked headlights look old and worn to me. Also to go from DEPO to DJ Auto is, by definition, a downgrade.

But, the setup looks clean when it's all together.

Thanks, nah they're clears, they came with the car. I then got some tint film from rvinyl.com and went to town. They go with the blacked out reds in my tails, so it works pretty well.

I just had a bad experience with my depo's. I handled them with alot of care but I ended up getting broken tabs, broken adjusters and a loose projector. I probably just got a lemon pair.

I'd have to agree.

1) Bosch
2) ZKW
3) Depo
4) DJ Auto
5) Apex

But they look good no the less.
