You rock an AEM license plate holder........

So just yesterday my friend calls me up saying he got a sweet deal on something and wants to test it out with me. Its around 9 P.M. and I really don't have anything to do, so what the hell. I talk to him and we agree to meet at my house. I pull up to my house and he steps out of his car, as well as I. We look at each other for a moment, and he has an almost psychopathic smile on his face. I get out and walk over to him and he ushers me to the back of his car. There, he opes the trunk and almost sitting in perfect harmony are nearly 5 different bottles of octane booster. Now, I've always been skeptical of these types of gimmicks, and I've never really thought about buying one. So here is my friend with 5 bottles of the stuff, offering me one whole bottle for myself. Do I accept the gift?................................YES!

I get the most appealing bottle (wouldn't you?!) and we read the directions. Halfway through we say F*CK IT! and put more than a quarter of the bottle in my lees than quarter tank of gas. So we roll out and I decide that I'll put in $10 worth of gas just for the occasion, LOL. I put in the good stuff (91 Shell V-Power) and we head off. We cruise a little and I see a black Acura RSX-S. I've heard plenty of stories where RSX's seem to be the sh*t, especially when they're of the "S" variety. I I hear that he has an exhaust, a pretty fatty one too, and while looking towards the bottom I notice a familiar company. AEM. So now at this point whats going through my mind is, "how modded is this guy?" I've heard that RSX-S's with simple bolt-on's and K-Pro ECU tuning is a pretty deady combo.

I get lucky and get right behind him before we hit one of the numerous 405 freeway overpasses. So we (my friend and I) have established that he has one "bolt-on", meaning the exhaust, so we wait eagerly in patience to find out what he has at the light. We go up the hill and I'm riding his ass the whole time like a football coach would to a linebacker running sprints. We get to the crest and I hear him downshift and its on. I'm at the beginning of VANOS at 3000RPM's and we have a good 1/2 mile ahead of us, clear of any traffic. He hits V-Tec and its very very audible, so from there on I assume he has bolt-on number two(2) which is an intake. Once again my 2nd gear gives me a tremendous advantage as I'm now dead even with him. We've reached where the hill is starting to flatten out at the bottom and I've just started 3rd. I keep going to the top of third and I cut it short at ~80 not even close to triple digits while a near +2.5 car lengths ahead. The Acura just keeps on going but unluckily for him he catches a red light and I get next to him to start a conversation.

Me: Nice run! What are you running?
Acura: What?
Me: What mods do you have? (shouting)
Acura: I have a stock K20!

So much for rocking the AEM plate holder. To be honest, the Acura RSX-S was one of the top cars I have been dying to race, so I'm happy I got the opportunity to do so. Now, hopefully my luck streak will continue and I can get an Honda S2000 to race. That should be interesting, since its the car with the most HP/Liter while being NA I believe IIRC.

Cliffs:
I get free octane booster!
Me + 1 try to find a car to race.
Clean black Acura RSX-S is willing to cooperate.
I pull over 2 CL's on Acura.
Guy says he's stock.

END

This thread is full of fail.

Off the shelf octane boost is garbage. You don't dump some in your weather 540 and make it a M5.

Vanos is BMW VTAK.

This.

Off the shelf octane booster is good for like 10 points, which means 91 octane becomes 92. (10 pts = 1 number at the pump).

It's the biggest waste of money possible.

I thought you were going to say you put 5 bottles in your car...that might have done something.

Really? Wow, I feel dumb now. Never knew that 10 "points" means only 1 "real" point in octance boost.

Either way, I still got to race a to RSX-S, which was on the top of my "To Race" lists.

not even that. It takes about a ton of those to raise your true octane "level' by one point. Complete waste of money.

Is that how you blew your motor? Racing a honda?

Exactly. I've driven quite a few ridiculous honda's in my time.

the 318s can take the del sols

I put octane booster in my car once, I'm ashamed to admit. I went to a full serve station (mistake), and the pump monkey filled me up with 87

Yes, ignoring 318's, and involving ONLY the US market.

Wow.. Thats just terrible on the RSX drivers part. Counting the secs after the 328's time flashed, I'd guess the RSX made a 17+ sec pass.

An RSX-S with bolt-ons and kpro is E46 M3 territory. Hate to crash the party.

Yup, it even list it on several manufacturers websites, that 10 points is only 1 ocatane point.

So true, there are a lot of quick hondas out there, and if you gut them to no tomorrow, they are pretty quick stock as well. I also used to drive a 200+Hp turbo Honda Accord that would tear apart most 3 and 5 series. Lot of them out there are just show, but some that are modded are actually that and pretty quick. My buddy's 06 TSX beats mine hands down, although he has a six-speed and I have the 5-speed steptronic in mine and all he has is a CAI.

Ya, I did that too, after I said premium, they pumped regular. The guy at the counter gave me free ocatane booster to make up for it to try to even it out after I told him my car is chipped and won't run right with under 91 octane. It wasn't as responsive, but I only put like $10 in there so it didn't affect it too much.

Yup, that sounds about right, most Hondas are in the 17 second range unless gutted/modded with a lot of performance mods.

+ 10000!!

mostly everyone here doesnt realize that and thinks the rsx-s is slow but it is only in stock form. Once the bolt-ons come on and a tune, its over for e36 m3's unless your really light or have cams.

My friend made 216whp on a dynapack with just intake, race header, straight 2.5 piping, high flow muffler, and hondata. That equates to about 230whp on a dynojet and this was on a humid 90 degree day in hawaii. And at 2800lbs...

E46 M3 3415lbs/280whp = 12.2lbs/whp
RSX-S 2770/230whp= 12.04lbs/whp

btw if you walk one, try racing at his pace(5.5k) and let him start in vtec, its only fair

This?

One of my close friends has a friend with K-Pro + Bolt-On RSX-S, and I'm very well aware of what that car can do, but never ever knew it was in E46 M3 territory. That's considering the E46 M3 is stock though right?
