e30 s50 0-60sec
Just wanted to let people know the 0-60 sec capability of a s50 powered e30. The motor currently has 6500 miles on it since the rebuild. The weather this morning was 52 and cloudy. I used a racelogic timer and the fastest time out of 3 tries was 5.4 secs the other 2 tries were 5.6 secs.
(This was on the street.) Heres a break down on the car: 1988 325 sedan m50 block bored to stock s50 specs, using stock 3.0 crank, pistons, and rods. stock m50 head with s52 cams and trays. ecu tuning is turner motorsports chip. 3.5 maf trans is from a 99 m3 coupe. the rear is 3.25lsd (out of a e28) stock bottle cap wheels with 205/60/r14 bfgoodrich traction t/a |

Was gonna say the same thing . That 0-60 time was about e36 m3 capability. The e46 m3 has around a 4.8 sec 0-60 and you should run closer to its numbers. You should be closer to 5 atleast. Hell i dont think one car beat me off the line ,including an 07 STi that made 350awhp. Use trial and error to perfect your launch you can bring that number down.

Before my S/C set-up I had times of 5.68 and 5.46 on GTech on 18 x 9 wheels in the rears with 235's...do not know if you can really improve much because of tire traction issues.
But at higher speeds, simply a blast |

I have not put any money into a wheel/tire combo so that is def hurting my times. I am goin to the track this weekend, so i ll put the timer in the car and see what the 0-60 is on the track.
Wow 4.8, is that at the on the strip? Last edited by Cbonenc 325; 11-05-2009 at 06:43 PM.. |

Wheel + tire combo, and the actual launch are key. That is not an official time, I'm basing it off of races I've had with cars capable of those times, and competent drivers. It's definitely 4.8-4.9 is definitely possible with the right set-up & driver in the street. However, it would take slicks to do that at the strip. Sorry for the misinformation, I just edited my post.

Hey e30polak which rear gear ratio is in your car?
I would like to run my car against a s52 swapped e30, too see if there is a big power difference over an s50. Does anybody know how much faster a s52 e30 is? Last edited by Cbonenc 325; 11-06-2009 at 07:53 AM.. |

I need to time mine "officially". I dont think it takes any more than 4.6 seconds to motivate my S52 E30 to 60. My car has stock diameter tires, the ZF320 trans, a 2.93, and tips the scales at 2,450 lbs. Only takes one shift to get to 60.

[QUOTE=e30polak;17835674]How is traction with the blower? Which kit do you have? What kind of numbers are you putting down?
Dyno was done at ICS Performance 7 psi, 312 whp and 264 wtq, traction even more difficult unless gradualBD-11 S/C by Powerdyne |

1/4 mile time
I took the car out to the track today and my 0-60 sec was 5.4. I didnt really launch i slipped the clutch and full throttled in 2nd and did alot of spinning i need to get some real tires.
