Question Question: Hood release

I have a 1999 528iT Sport wagon, the interior hood release operates and the exterior release, allows the hood to release about 1-2 inches, but the hood will not open, it seems that something is not releasing and allowing the hood to open. How do I get the hood to open?

Are you pushing the latch with your fingers?

Hood

I have owned this car for 7 years and the hood release pulls outward, but in answering your reply have tried to push, also.

Since the hood already opens a couple of inches, you can manually pop the latches with a long screwdriver.
