Visiting Fremont area, need things to do

Hey, down here from Portland with my wife, we came to visit some family, we checked out the lovefest rave on saturday, and visited with family yesterday, now it's a day with just us two. We are on a somewhat limited budget and just looking for things to do around here since we're not from the area. Hit me up with stuff to do around here. We're probably going to go to santa cruz later but looking for stuff to kill the time until then.

Luckily I still had a wounded hobo, an unsatisfied erection, high-explosive semen and a score to settle. The night wouldn’t be a total wash.

Something quick...

- Take a stroll by Lake Elizabeth park or take one of those pedal boat ride
- Great Mall in Milpitas for shopping (short drive).
- Or Newpark Mall in Mowry
- Play nine holes/ Driving range in Fremont Park (close by Lake Elizabeth).

Go to Santana Row/Valley Fair (in San Jose/Santa Clara off the 880) on your way south to Santa Cruz, nice place to just have a glass of wine or whatever.

but you went to lovefest?? did you come here just for that?

IF you want to do anything... LEAVE FREMONT! It's hella boring. Go to Frisco or something... That's your best bet. Enjoy the city.

Unless you're into the shabby bars or a social gathering there isn't really much to do. Head to SF on BART to go dining and what not, or maybe Santa Cruz?

Wow, Fremont is not getting any <3 in here. Way to go to promote your own neighborhood businesses .

The OP asked for something to pass some time (read: something easy). If he said he had the whole day, then yeah fremont is not the first on the list of places to spend a day. But there is definitely "something" to do in Fremont.

Now, everytime the OP is asked about Fremont, he would have the same impressions as you guys are - a negative one.

Get out of Fremont, but for god's sake, skip San Francisco. I have never been to a city I hate more than SF. Way too many people, traffic sucks, full of freaks/bums, expensive as hell, and the whole damn city is dirty. The food isn't that great either.

Wow talk about pessimistic

You're not very constructive when it comes to some actual reasons SF sucks - the food imo is great depending where you go (hole-in-the-wall places I usually favor)

and quite frankly I can't find a major city that isn't full of people, traffic, bums, and expensive tourist shops.

Fremont is damn boring.

I had an ex that lived up there. Every time we wanted to do something we ended up back in SJ

OK. I'll literally take what you mean by "limited budget". There are a lot of things to do here.

Walk around Lake Elizabeth (Fremont). Lake Chabot (in Castro Valley) has paddle boats and fishing. The Great Mall (Milpitas) is built inside the old Ford Motor Company assembly plant. Lots of shopping-just remember where you parked as the lot is super-huge!!

Fremont Hub shopping center (Mowry at Fremont Blvd).

Go tour Mission San Jose. There's a couple of Go-Kart tracks in the area.

Paramount's Great America is just down the road (but the cost isn't cheap).

Take a drive in the back roads of Fremont. A lot of nice scenery (but I doubt if it's as nice as Oregon).

Go down to Fremont's Auto Row (take the Auto Row exit off of Interstate 880) and just window shop the cars.

Miniture Golf (South on 680).

I Fly (Union City Landing in Union City).

Ride the BART train just for the heck of it.

Drive to San Jose and see the Winchester Mystery House (I don't know the entry cost, but it's a wierd house worth seeing).

Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz.

I can go on and on. Those that say Fremont and the neighboring areas are boring don't have much of an imagination. It doesn't take money to have fun!! Just a good imagination!!!

You can thank me by posting a pic of the wifey!! (JK) Enjoy your time in Cali!!

I just thought of something.. If you REALLY want to stay in Fremont, go to City Beach. They got a bar, ping pong tables, mountain climbing, basketball...

Or

Dave and Buster's in Milpitas. It's only a 10 min drive from Fremont.

Nothing to do in Fremont. It sucks. Lake Elizabeth is the most crackin spot here. Since your with your wife you wont be effected by Cock-Fests (which is basically every bar in fremont). There are a few cool drives through the canyons & fremont hills. Secret Sidewalk, Upside down Airplane, exe...THere are too many nice cities around fremont for you to actually chill here.....FYI : have never seen so many people Giggin off pills, drops, and whatever else in my life like LoveFest

Ok we're back in Oregon, thanks for the suggestions. We ended up trying to hike mission peak, got about 1/4 mile up from the trailhead and then decided it was way too hot to be hiking in direct sun and turned back. After that we went to our aunts and cousins, went to a karaoke bar and had a blast. Glad to have had In N Out 3 times down there, which is great because the closest one to us is redding and still a 6 hour drive one way. Love fest was pretty awesome, we didn't come down for it, but our cousins suggested it when we got there. I however, being a DJ would have came down just for that, so it was a really big added bonus. Lot of "interesting" people there, and lots of good techno/dnb as compared to the stuff up here. It was a blast, and I want to go down there again next year for it now This was my first trip to the bay area and I <3 it now. But definitely right, about one thing. GET OUT OF FREMONT! lol
