Z3 (E36/7, E36/8) (1996 - 2002) In 1996 BMW added the Z3 to the lineup. First available only with the 1.9 liter engine, the Z3 went on to carry every 6 cylinder produced between 1996 and 2002. A fun, sporty little 2 seater came both in convertible and coupe form. Being a bit of a “parts bin” car, the Z3 is part E30, part E36, but all original.

New here, from Montreal Cnd

I have acquired myself an 1999 M Coupe from Florida, flying down to go get it & driving back up.

This car is so rare in either engine format that I am lucky that I got an M.
Worst thing about this. I cant remember the last time I saw one in the flesh.

Except for today while going to get my hair cut downtown. I saw one on the bridge, a 3.0i with Mass. plates hauling a little trailer with his track wheels.
My guess he was heading either to the Mirabel track or the one at Mt.Tremblant.

To end this story that car has a great ass...no pictures can do it justice than to see it live in 3D & soon I will my own great ass looking Coupe

Cheers

Bugs are the least of your worries on 1-95. Chips are the issue.

Someone posted a thread on this recently. Good luck on the trip!

Thanks for the warning...but I think I am screwed...I am landing in Florida 12:30am Satuday & leaving Monday Morning, so no time for shipping that to me.
Unless a local parts store like NAPA has that product of the shelf. Or that I can find a Z3 Bra locally before leaving.

Go to any local hardware store and pick up some blue painters tape. Tape up the front of the car, the mirrors, and the fenders.

Just be careful when you take it off. I'd recommend a water rinse to get the tape off easier. Then give the car a good wash and wax to clear up the adhesive.

Congrats on the purchase! I think we have one of the best groups of enthusiasts on here.

I didn't use any protect on the front of my car for the trip. Most of the drive back I took the I-75 though which was pretty quiet. You'll be taking the I-95 the whole way I guess. I did hit a few patches of bugs and they COVERED my car. I stopped for some car washes to fix that.

I went through the Detroit border because their customs is open on weekends. I told the guy that we were in the states for over 48 hours so we didn't have to pay tax on $400 because of me and my passenger. The highways in Detroit are unbelievably bad though. If I had any problems with my subframe the streets of Detroit would of just ripped it out.

The car is quite comfortable for such a long ride. So enjoy it!

that'll be a great trip to start your memories of the car with!

if you're not going to be passing through for homecoming, maybe take a detour through spartanburg, SC and tour the plant! They're going to stop Z4 production sometime this month, and move it overseas for good.

hi Jimmy! Now all of us Montrealers are showing our faces on BF.com I see! We'll definitely need to plan an Ile-Sainte-Helene/Mount Royal photoshoot.

What colors are your M Coupes btw?
