Hey there,
Does anyone know exactly which fuse is for the cigarette lighter. The fuses are in the glove compartment and they are a bit diffcult to get at but I cannot tell from the diagram that came with the car which fuse is which. I have had the little problem in the last week that I have blown that fuse twice. MY own fault, the first time I moved the charger I had plugged in and the fuse blew this time I had my Radar detector and my Iphone plugged in and my girlfriend plugged in her phone and the fuse immediately blew.
Any ideas or anybody know which fuse it is. I hate to take it to the dealer again I feel like an ass.
thanks,
J
If you blew a fuse you can always use elimination one by one to find it. I know it is a PITA but you save yourself a needless dealer trip.

Yeap,
may be destined to do that. my luck it will be the last. it is just in a difficult place to get at. there is a trap door at the bootom of the glovecompartment and the fuses are about a foot below that.
oh well, i might wait until monday and ask the service departement at my local dealer.
thanks,
j
OK just in case anyone is interested the fuse is # 30 and it is 20 Amp fuse there is alittle diagram that looks something like this (+ C-> -) a plus then a C witha circle in it and an arrow coming from it than a minus sign. Otr maybe its a minus sign first then a plus sign. Well you get it I am sure # 30.
TRhey like to blow when you plug in radar detectors, phones, etc. BMW says they are only meant for lighters. Such bullshit, who the hell smokes in their Bimmer anyway?

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be headed to my dealer for the same problem this week. It sounds like it is relatively common. I agree that their story is crap...nobody should EVER be smoking in one of these cars.

Thanks for figuring this out, mine just blew and I had the same issue with the keycard.

Someone should toss together a spreadsheet showing (in non-pictograph form) exactly what what each fuse is for.. I assumed the two not in the chart were spares (1-15A / 1-20A) and used the 20A until I can get it replaced tomorrow.

My owners manual says there are plastic tweezers and additional fuses in the distributor box. Anyone know where this box is located, because I have no idea. Thanks.
bump. Still trying to find cigar lighter fuse. Anyone have a picture?
Check out this thread, specifically post #8. It has what you need:

Remember to check the card on the back of the glovebox panel in your vehicle to make sure you have the same fuse layout.

I could use a little extra help with this issue. I had a GPS adapter go bad and may have shorted out the jack and now both outlets are not working. I checked the fuse as well as replaced #30 to no avail. Is there anything else in this system or an additional fuse in the system that I should check before I take this into the dealer?
Thanks
