It's located on the side of the transmission. You can't miss it.

It's the black thing with the rubber hose coming off of it in the picture below. The thing just to the right of the word "GETRAG".

There are two nuts holding it on. Look at the picture and you can see one of them. The other one is on the opposite side of it.

BTW please get yourself a Bentley manual, it's worth its weight in gold for working on E30's.

its a really easy swap to do the slave. I did mine last year. I bled mine before it put it back on the tranny. I used a powerbleeder from bavauto. You are going to have to pump the clutch forever also, i was worried at first but just keep pumping.

How did you bleed with the slave removed, did you buy the holding tool? I've had a spongy clutch and I'm 99% sure it's due to air still stuck in there. I've power bled more ATE Super Blue through my system then my wallet can afford.

Are you serious? The slave cylinder that you are installing...

The resevoir holds the fluid. There is a hose that connects the resevoir to the master cylinder. When you push the clutch pedal, you are actually pulling fluid through the master cylinder down through another hose, into the slave cylinder. This hydraulic pressure forces the slave cylinder rod to push the release fork inside the bellhousing. Anyway, this system needs to be 100% fluid and no air. To do this, you need to bleed the clutch system. This procedure is listed several times in this forum.

Do you have any mechanically inclined friends to help you with this?

I would also replace the master cylinder while you're doing the slave. If there is a significant pressure holding difference between the two parts and you just replace one, its only a matter of time before the other one craps out. I actually have both FS brand new in the box. I was going to do this but later found out that it was only my brake fluid reservoir that was leaking and causing my pedal to sink to the floor. Let me know if you are interested....

attach line, bleed, install. I had to push it pretty hard to get it back on but it worked. seemed easier than trying to get to the bleeder screw w/ it on the car. I think the ix one is a bit harder to get to however.

I did the whole job in about 30 minutes and the majority of the time was spent trying to get the nuts loose.
