Ok, so I got my Fuel Filter/ 02' sensor changed today and some new ignition wires.
And then I went and filled my tank full of gas.
The car is parked in my garage now but its smells like gas?
happened last time I filled it with a full tank.
why?

you sir, have a leak somewhere. check underneath the car tomorrow morning.
If it's not dripping out somewhere the leak probably on top of the tank (there are 2-3 hoses on the top)and venting into the car...if you fill it all the way up it may freak out gas station workers (I freaked out a few once) when it dumps gas all over the ground....
The Frozen Baur (AKA The Frozen Ground) now on Netflix (John Cussack is driving the Omega behind the Baur)
those hoses are accessable from underneath the rear seat on the passengar side. the O ring that seals in the fuel filter and floater assembly might be toast.
Its either the overflow tank, the filler pipe, or the pipe between two gas tanks (if it has one). The pump o-ring is probably bad too , just as the pump hoses. (they would smell all the time)
Me thinks it needs all the hoses that are there. You might wanna replace all of them at ones since the car is almost mint.
...And I'm guessing that your charcoal filter (under the battery tray in the front of the car) is new and still connected? My car smells of gas fumes since I've disconnected it. (hope they don't look for it at my next smog check...)

I have the same problem when i fill right to the top of my tank, I just don't fill it up all the way, leave about a litre or two less. Don't know if its a hose or leak at the top of the tank.

My E21 used to do this too. I found that once the light came on I could put 10 gallons in it and it wouldn't leak, anything over 10 and it would drip out. But eventually I got tired of doing this and spent about a month replacing the hoses back there untill I finally fixed all the leaks.

My 2008 Ford Fusion started having a gas smell. Found a small pin size hole in the metal gas tank near area where you fill the tank. The entire area near where you fill up the tank was rusted. It was just a pin size hole but had a strong gas smell in the garage. The smell was the strongest right after filling up the tank. Since the hole was at the top of the tank this explains why smell was the strongest right after filling up the tank. Some gas may have been leaking out the top when driving and getting on the tank.
O ring
Mine does the same thing. If I fill it all the way up, smells of gas for the day, but then it's gone. Doesn't drip anything though.
This is a common problem with E21s caused by bad vent lines. Also, this thread is 6.5 years old.

First off I'd suggest finding a forum catering to ford products. You're not going to find much help here in a bmw forum specifically for the 1975-82 three series. I wish i could offer more help, but being form CA i don't have much experience fixing rust issues. Hope this helps.
Do you guys even read what people post. He's asking about a 2008 Ford Fustion.
I wasn't responding to his post. If you even read what people post, you'd see he isn't actually asking a question. Also, his post is in the past tense, which would imply that it is no longer an issue for him. He seems to have signed up to offer a suggestion for the possible fuel smell problem. I offered my own suggestion to Heretic E21, as the symptoms he posted are commonly related to fuel tank vent lines on the E21.
