    328i turbo or supercharger??

I was wondering if I should buy a supercharger or a turbo kit for my 328i. Which brings more power? Which is more reliable?
    Thanks

Um Both bring tons of power! The real question is what kind of power are you looking for ie. Up and down through the gears with your RPM's, or Delayed and then constant. if you can afford it get a turbo.

check out the FI subforum too for the experts opinions.

in general the supercharger is going to be easier to install but it won't see the power that a turbo app will. It will also be cheaper.

either can be made as reliable as you want them to be.
Hold on let me get my laptop and read this on the toilet.

Turbos certainly have more potential, the higher the power and psi the worse reliability I suppose, there's something about a supercharger though. I would get a supercharger over a turbo though, just cause. Also Turbo sounds rice and SC sounds tuf lol, even though a turbo can make way more power.

i would beg to differ... i love the sound of a supercharger as much as the next guy, but there is nothing rice about a nice turbo sound. gotta love them both!

my route will most likely be either the TT s1 kit, or just go with the tried and true AA centrifugal. i am in the same situation as you in deciding which way to go.

turbo's have much more potential. i would save until you can get a tt kit (if they end up doing one for the m52) or a twin screw. it also depends on what you want. if you check the FI section Eurobahn just posted dyno charts of their new super charger making almost 250 whp on a m52. and that kit is around $4000 i believe. it all depends on how much power you want.

but thst is on a stock car that prob. made 170whp to begin with. add some m3 cams, m50 intake manifold and free flowing exhaust that would make pretty decent numbers. and remember this is with a vortech supercharger not a twin screw.

No it's not. Which kit is making more power for 4 grand w/o a FMIC, and only boosting 6 psi? Again, stock 170whp, sounds like a good improvement.

i agree, and would also go s/c. i think turbo is cooler, but s/c would be the route id go... if i was on that route.

Thread is two years old. Look at the stickies, search for cardcounter, current HP on his 328 is 1000whp and a proven 9sec 1/4 pass.
