    Need Rheingold, ISTA, Coding rig setup expert in Metro Detroit. Willing to pay.

    Hello fellow BMW enthusiasts. Recently acquired a 2006 BMW Z4 3.0si. She's in need of some TLC. I decided to dust off an old laptop, purchased a K+CAN Cable with switch, obtained both "Mike's Easy BMW Tools" and Rheingold's 4.15.16 package.

    Day three of getting the software to work and am throwing my hands up as I'm not making progress. Hate to take the easy route and stop by the dealership/indy. I'd rather see the money go to a fellow enthusiast who can get my rig operational and fully funding, along with some mentoring.

    Please PM if you know of someone that can help.

    Thanks in advance.

    What kind of issues are you having?
    The source of ISTA 4.15.16 is torrents or where?

    I don't particularly like Mike's tools, but they're fine.

    My pack here https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...xperimentation
    has basic use instructions and troubleshooting for connection issues. Everything you'd need is in the first post.

    Thank you Abel,

    ISTA 4.15.16 was from a torrent. Error, "Failed to start ISTA.Please make sure your ISTA configuration is valid.
    In doubt reset any non standard ISTA configuration and reinstall ISTA."

    Mikes Tools seemed more straightforward. It doesn't appear to be reading all of the modules. I'm having an issue with ABS and Brake Lights on along with odometer and speedometer not working. Thought it would be a straightforward Left Rear VSS replacement. i swapped the sensor and issue is still there. The code reader I purchase is not seeing the issue. From my German to English interpretations from Mike's tools, it's not seeing the error either.

    I've uninstalled everything and will follow your steps. Fingers crossed the output can/will be in English.

    Hope to report back in the next 48 hours.

    Usually when ISTA does that, it's likely the sqlitedb files were not extracted and entered in correctly. Sometimes it's the registry file not entered correctly.

    My INPA is designed to be used on the older Z3, so it may need configurations for Z4 specifically.

    Which modules work, and which ones don't, in INPA specifically?
    DME (I believe you're on MSV70), CAS, airbag, etc.

    Impeccable timing. I walked through the install, launched ISTA with much anticipation. No errors, but as you mentioned I did not see an E85 Z4 configuration.

    I'm not trusting what my past scans are showing. I'll use your build first and if needed troubleshoot from there. By chance do you know which module would be associated with the speedometer and odometer; and ABS, and brake warning lights?

    I think you mean INPA?
    (ISTA is what's being erroneously called Rheingold here)

    To change the configuration, open C:\EC-APPS\INPA\CFGDAT\INPA.ini file

    Change the F2 entry (or another one if you want) to this:
    Code:
    F2                    = E85
    F2_Text               = E85/E86
    F2_ARCHIV             = SGBD_E85

    and save the .ini file.

    Your INPA will now have E85 menu.

    Progress! I have a new baseline :-)

    The challenges I had with the code scanner and prior INPA scans (correct, NOT ISTA) has reappeared. It seems the modules at fault can't be read, multiple "NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLUNIT"
