So I just picked myself up a 1989 525i and the wipers weren't working. I looked through the plastic screen that covers the wiper motor on the drivers side of the car. There are two large plugs and a small plug coming from the wiring harness that comes through the firewall. Looking at the two large plugs, one is black and one is white. The black one connects to the wiper motor directly, but the white one isn't attached to anything. I've seen videos of replacing the motor and it's definitely supposed to be plugged in. I've searched around in there for hours and can't find the other end. Where does the other side of the plug come from?

Could it be possible that the previous owner replaced the wiper motor with an adjustable pressure one? Is the drivers side arm held on with a 13mm nut or a "clamp" type with a smaller bolt?
I think the explanation is simply that the harness is built to accommodate the pressure adjustment motor but the car (a 525i) didn't receive that option.
The adjustable pressure unit is entirely separate from the wiper motor. The pressure unit is a second motor that looks like a small wiper motor and it takes its own electrical plug. It sits right under the pivot point of the driver's side wiper whereas the actual wiper motor sits more towards the centre of the car. Since you've got the 13mm nut, you don't have the adjustable pressure setup.
