Hi all,
I am getting ready to replace the intake and valve cover gaskets on my 99 750il with 117k miles. I am deciding whether or not to replace the injectors while I have everything apart or simply test the resistance of each one and try to clean them out using carb cleaner and a 12 volt battery. As far as I can tell....my current injectors are working well and there is no sign to indicate a faulty or leaking injector but I was able to find a low price of $53 each for a set new Siemans VDO brand part 13641435991
VDO part number A2C59514533.
I am still debating whether to simply replace the original ones with new VDO for about $640 or simply clean my old ones thoroughly.
If anyone out there has any suggestions...please let me know. Im not certain just how long an injector is expected to work properly and considering to keep this car for a very long time
Thanks to all for their time and advice
I don't think buying new ones is particularly cost-effective, but you may need to end up buying some anyway as they are notorious for breaking when removed.
Any chance you can share where you found them for $53 new?
You can usually buy o-ring and pintle cap kits for most injectors if you want to rebuild them yourself. I did it on my E36 and it was pretty easy. You could also send them out to be rebuilt and cleaned, usually $15-20 each? Maybe more?

Hi guys,
Partstrain.com has the Siemans VDO injector listed for $58 each and I was able to get a discount of $5. I figured it was a great deal since they seem to go for alot more online and also in the larger auto stores...advance auto has them listed for 198 each!!
I know it seems foolish to replace injectors with no reason for doing so....but with 117k miles and having the engine apart to do the intake and valve gaskets...I dont want to risk having to do this job twice.
What do you guys think?
I think you should have them flow tested, cleaned, and rebuilt. This site advertises the service for $17.50 each: http://www.mrinjector.us/ (No endorsement here, I've never tried them) You can most likely find somewhere local to you that can do it for a similar price. It may take a few days, but it sounds like you have some other things to work on anyway.

I also checked realoem..and they have it listed for $123...
I thought of having them rebuilt at costs of up to $30 each...but after doing some online research...I didnt want to chance having worn out pintles, springs and other internal parts that arent replaced with a typical rebuild.
The fact that I was able to get a set for a fraction of the average cost ($53 each) also persuaded me to replace rather than spend $35 each to have them rebuilt and keep my cross my fingers that they would work like new.
Thanks
Hit up your local junk yard. Ohm the injector out to see if it's good. Off the top of my head, mine ohm'd out between 12-14 when I checked them a few years ago.
I was amazed by how much gunk I got out of my injectors when I cleaned them. The car ran fine prior though.
