I had these mirrors on my E38 for a couple of years before I replaced them with AC SCHNITZER's. They are good quality aftermarket items. I do not have pictures of them on my car unfortunately.
I installed Genuine M5 Mirrors on my 7

Those are so much more fitting for the car IMO. Really interested to see how they look once painted to match.
Current:
E38 2001 750iL - Current DD.
E36 1995 M3 Coupe - Ls1/t56 - FIXED...now with a Ford 8.8 IRS Rearend
E36 1998 323is Coupe - Back-up DD.
R53: 2005 MCS W/ GP and JCW bits. - Wifes Project Car
Past:
E36 1999 Dinan M3 Coupe AW/Sand Beige - In BMW Heaven.
they would look great when colored matched but I have same color Silver pinstripes and Alpina rims to match. I like how it looks with the colored mirrors being off.. Im sure if they were painted black they would look more stealth...

I went shopping around for some used ones. There not cheap everyone is selling them 200 250 a mirror. I've got too many other projects to do first. But love the look. And I won't buy aftermarket

yes, stay away from Aftermarket..m5 mirrors have same plugs as E38 OEM.. Plug n play....goto craigslist and look for M5 part outs

I have aftermarket on my touring for over two years. Their nice quality and I would buy again.
I"m not a fan of the turned up look so mine are not hooked up to power fold. They do everything else well and do the drop down when you back up.
My garage is small and have bumped into them hard several times with no problems.
I get the OEM thing but when I bought these M5 mirrors were over $550 to $600 range. Really ? f that. Oh when you look in mirror everything is backward don't know if thats a aftermarket thing ?

well for wanting just the look , yes get aftermarket....Nothing wrong buying OEM...I agree the $500 range for the mirrors is a lot...I sure didn't pay that

Not arguing OEM,but a concern. Is a 16 year old oem part with gears that are known to break still a better option than after market piece .
Maybe OEM if you a used set same color to save on cost of painting them. If I had found a deal on OEM would have gone that route.
Think you'll be fine with either.
Im gonna have mine painted black soon to match....Im also gonna have my Alpinas painted black too...

I can say one thing oe is twice the price. I'm thinking for the risk jp5Touring's mirrors look fine and all I'm giving up would be auto dimming. Funny I started this because I broke my auto folding mirror and I saw the retrofit mirrors on eBay. I went OCD on the old mirror and figured out how to fix it. But after seeing the m5 mirror and the way they look I'm goring to retrofit
