ITS BATHURST WEEKEND AGAIN

I dont know if you guys can get this over there but if you can, see if you can watch some of it

They dont call it 'The great race' for nothing.... its amazing..... 1000kms over 'The Mountain'

This year, the types of cars has increased & along with the Holdens & Fords they have Nissans, Mercedes', & Volvos (dont laugh, the only one of those three to win a race this year was a Volvo).
All are V8's, all are fast

David Reynolds, Mark Winterbottom and Fabian Coulthard have all smashed Craig Lowndes' outright lap record in a frantic practice session at Mount Panorama this afternoon.

All three drivers set their super fast times in the dying stages of the session with Reynolds on top with a 2:06.3714.

That time is half a second quicker than the previous outright V8 Supercars lap record at Mount Panorama (a 2:06.8012), set by Lowndes in 2010.

The session was red-flagged twice, the first time when Swede Robert Dahlgren backed his Volvo into a wall at the Dipper, while the second stoppage was for Garth Tander, who was trying to wrestle the fastest time of the session back from Nissan's Rick Kelly at the time.

The Western Australian also made contact with a wall at the Dipper, leaving serious front and rear damage to the #2 Holden Racing Team Commodore.

Coulthard was third with Scott McLaughlin, Jason Bright, Shane van Gisbergen, James Courtney, Craig Lowndes, James Moffat and Chaz Mostert rounding out the top 10.

The #17 Dick Johnson Racing and #18 Ford Performance Racing entries reappeared after missing the second session, following incidents earlier in the day.

I didn't know that Volvo are also participating in Supercars V8. I know that Nissan came back and Mercedes are there too. Interesting too see that some manufacturers are taking a keen interest in this sport.
