Hazard lights with a mind of their own

New to this so not sure how to post this or if its in the right place, anyhow, once I park up and get out if the car, within five mins the hazard lights come on & dont stop untill I push the button. Started infrequently but now it can be 3/4 times inside 20 mins, & sometimes 4 in the morning even though the car hasnt been touched in hours. The button isnt sticky & under the plastic is clean. Hazards work perfectly when the car is started, but only work about 50% of the time when im parked up. Anyone else had similar problems or recommend anything?

Hi,

It could be a faulty bonnet alarm switch, or perhaps a faulty alarm unit, or potentially a faulty ignition swtich etc. You'll need to do some fault finding and test things out. Check the E46 section for other posts that are similar.
