    2.8 swapping my m44

Hi hpguys I'm really sorry if this has been covered I have checked for a while and can't find the topic

    i have. 1998 318is so m44 manual
want to swap to the m52b28. I have a donor car coming but it's auto
and I'm able to do the work myself

what do I need to take to make it work

As far as I can tell it should be a pull out pull in
while switching engine loom and dme (both are ews2 so shouldn't effect it)?
    also have to switch difss

Can I use my manual box and set up
whoch diff would be better or is there a better ratio I should buy
are the engine mounts the same
    ews issues
Anything else I need to do

Sorry if already posted can someone link me if so

You can use the getrag transmission from your M44, but the clutch won't last very long. Swap to a 325 clutch setup, or M3/328 setup. M3/328 setup will require a new master/slave cylinder or you'll have a gigantic left leg after a few months.

You'd have to do some drive shaft swapping/hacking to use the diff from the 328. I wouldn't bother changing your diff. It shouldn't explode on you unless you do burn outs and hard launches every day.

For your other questions, look at realoem.com and compare parts between the cars.

Why do all this work for only an M52B28? Can't be that much more expensive to find a donor S52B32. Labor is the real cost, not the parts. Even if you manage to fully DIY this, that's a lot of time.
