Need bigger car then our E46 325i

    Hi,

We have had our E46 325i for 7 years now. It's still a great car; we love it.

It's time to get something more spacious. Touring 328xdrive (2009+), X3(2011+) or X5!

    Do you have any advise?

I guess the most reliable would be in the same order, 3 series, x3 and then the x5 (could encouter electronics issues?)

    Thanks for your input.

What type of price range are you looking for? I would guess something in the $20-30k range judging by your list of perspective models?

1999 BMW e36 328is with rotary valve engine head
    1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight

    1962 Austin Healey Sprite

    X3 would be my choice.

At these ages, the maintenance of the car will outweight any inherent reliability of the chassis.

Personalyl I'd go for an X5. If you need a bigger car now, whose to say in another few years you wont need a bigger car again if you get an X3 or 3 series now?

My E46 didn't cost me much for maintenane and reparations.

That's what I am wondering, when i mentionned reliability earlier.
My wife loves the X5, but I am worried that it will cost too much if it will start to have issues...
I am guessing that that the X3 will break less! donno really.

    Budget, about 15-18k for a 328ix T, up to 25k for an X3 or X5
