Hmmmm, now I really can't wait to access the police report. I never really paid attention to the actual truck while at the scene other than to note the damages to front suspension on the tow vehicle and the fact it was silver. I listed the vehicles off the list I received from the Police officer that arrived on the scene 1st, he gave me the list showing that the truck towing the boat is registered as a 2010 Dodge Durango 4X4, but now in looking closely at the pictures it is a Ford truck and not a Dodge. So now I'm betting the Ford was a recent purchase that he put his 7000lbs Durango plates on but had not transferred the plates over yet. In Indiana when you purchase a new vehicle and sell your old you can place the old vehicles plates on the new vehicle for up to 30 days as long as you carry the old vehicles registration in new vehicle along with the title signed over to you to the new vehicle. Boy I bet this is really going to create a insurance nightmare.
On a side note I was able to take the standard headlight from the 99 facelift parts car and I removed the lens, gasket & bezel then took my Xenon lens and replaced the standard low beam lens off the facelift car with it and trimmed the clips off the bezel and put it all back together on my 95-98 xenon headlight. The Xenon inner lens is lightly touching the surrounding outer lens that rings it but at least its sealed from the elements for now so moisture can't get to the bulb and the wife's happy she can drive it for now rather than my 2001 as she hauls the grand kids regular and everything else so she's more comfortable in the 1995 that shows more wear.
I was forceing the google for any info about it, but nothing
LOL were to rural for news unless its MAJOR. In the entire county we have 1 actual grocery store, 1 burger king, 1 dairy queen, 1 subway & 1 pizza hut. 1 Newspaper the Parke County Sentinel published once weekly serves the Entire county, the corner the accident happened at used to have a country store & post office and both those have closed. If you weren't driving past you won't know about it until Sept. 24th when the next paper comes out, and if you subscribe to the paper and don't go online to see the new paper you don't receive Wed. the 24th's addition until the following day on Thursday the 25th. They didn't even begin online subscriptions I don't think until 3-4 years ago. Were RURAL. LOL what makes the paper will be probably a 1 paragraph blurb with names of drivers involved. Of course with Bellmore Volunteer Fire Dept. being right on that corner ( took about 30 seconds to a minute for them to arrive on scene as many of the volunteers were already at the Volunteer Fire dept. building due to major renovations that involved tearing down 1 building and preparing to do another ) someone with them may have notified the county news paper and took a actual story but normally its just a paragraph on each incident in county of where the sirens went that takes up maybe 1/16 of a newspaper page in size covering them all ( LOL lotta action going on here, especially with all the Amish we have ). I'll know on Thursday when my Wed. paper arrives.
The cook at the Big Berry Drive In restaurant right across from the fire dept. was supposed to have got great shots of all the vehicles involved damages and I'm trying to get those pics now. Heard also that they had been videoing some of the work at the Fire dept. and that they may have caught it on video. If so I'll post the video also. That will be something I LOVE to have. I believe the total # of BMW's that are registered in the Entire county can be counted on 2 hands and I've got 6 of those not counting the parts car. Were WAY RURAL.

Wow that is just crazy! What a weird sequence of events.
I recently had my front bumper and associated lights, hardware, etc replaced because of a semi-truck tire, and that totalled up to $1800 with BMW parts. So, you may need to do some negotiating on your car
It's unfortunate that these things are worth so little. Good news is you can practically fix that yourself with used parts that are already painted. Either that or source the parts and have insurance pay for the paint, new lights, trim, and hardware.

WOW!! Glad you and your family are ok. Could have been much worse.
I'm thinking the same, but I hope with all the receipts I have to show that this was a highly maintained car that we can get a higher figure than BB negotiated. Then I'm going to offer to accept slightly less than if they totaled it so I can keep car without it being a salvage title, if not then I'm hoping if they do total it that they'll agree to sell it back as salvage title won't bother me since we plan to keep this car as its the only one I don't mind hitting the gravel roads on around here.
Already looking casually now for another Just in case things don't work out.

Here's the pics the cook took at the scene. The 2nd picture shows the Escape driver standing just in front of my bumper in a orange shirt & shorts.
Spoke with our volunteer fire dept. and the person I spoke with was not aware if it was caught on video said he hadn't heard anything about one but he's checking and will get back with me.
Holly cow, hell of a mess
