Up for sale is a mechanically very fresh 1991 E30 BMW 318is which is a non sunroof (slicktop) car.
I purchased the car as a roller in 2012 and had plans of weekend drives, and occasional track or auto-x day.......those days never happened as I became very busy. The car is running strong now, and a blast to drive, however I do not have any time for it.
Every moving component of this car along with some that don't move (brake lines and hoses) were all replaced over the past two years with OEM or race quality parts. The motor is a freshened up M42 which I purchased for the project, the previous owner had the top end freshened up (along with profile gasket) at 130k and sold to me at 135k.
All suspension components were removed, stripped, and either rebuilt or replaced. The shocks, struts, mounts, bushings, ball joints and related hardware are all BRAND NEW.
Differential was given fresh output seals and rear cover gasket. Axles were rebuilt. All braking components are new. Interior carpet was steam cleaned and then dyed black. Black OEM sport interior now inside (rear is in excellent condition, front seats are decent).
The suspension and steering on this car are just awesome. The car is so quick to turn in, and stays very flat when pushed. The short shifter in it, is also very tight and quick.....so overall it is a very fun car to toss around.
The 8.5lb flywheel does buzz/vibrate a bit at idle, but once you are moving it is just amazing to zing this little engine. So much more responsive than a stock 27lb flywheel. Rev matched downshifts are lightning fast, and very easy to perform.
I wish I had the time to rip around in this thing more often. However I'm a small business owner currently pushing through an expansion in a new location (ie work 8 days a week), and I'm also a father of two young kids that I spend as much free time with as I can when I'm not working. My loss is your gain.

Areas of note: Air conditioning was removed as the plan was this was going to be a weekend event car. The speedo is not currently functioning, however I believe it was when the cluster was in the donor car. May just be the speed sensor at the diff, but I haven't taken the time to track it down. The rear seats are in excellent condition, I'd rate the front as fair - some wear and could use a refresh. However overall interior is in pretty good condition. The dash does have a few cracks, but overall still a decent interior. The car doesn't have any structural rust/rot issues, and no rust along windows like many older BMW's. However the rear license plate holes are rusted and there is some light surface rust I never got to addressing on a couple panels (see pics).
