Hello. I am new to the forum and hope this group can help me.
I have a 2009 BMW 328i that needs service. Both the ABS and Brake! dash lights are on, as well as the Check Engine light. I am afraid it will need extensive repairs, so I am hoping to be directed to an independent shop that will charge less than the dealers, yet provide good service.
I am in the area of Pembroke Pines / Hollywood / Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and would prefer to use someone local to me.

Is your steering wheel level when your driving down the road?
If yes likely the szl or dsc took a crap.
If no get an alignment
2006 X5 L83 5.3 6l80 swapped in progress
1999 528i 5.7L 4l60e swapped w/ 31 spline 8.8 cobra diff
2007 ZX-10r - sold
1987 R-10 SWB L83 5.3L 6L80e swapped
^^^ I am confused. I am having no trouble with my steering. I think I might need a brake job, but would that cause the ABS and Brake! lights to go on?
For the Check Engine light, i have a fault code 2A87 DME: Exhaust VANOS, mechanism.
The Test Plan (Start of Diagnosis) says: ABL_DIT_B1214_NGNWA VANOS solenoid valve, exhaust; B1214_NG6NWA- Exhaust camshaft sensor; DME: Exhaust VANOS, mechanism
Possible causes of fault:
VANOS solenoid valve, exhaust soiled or mechanically faulty
The plain rectangular compression ring of the camshaft has dug into the bearing strip.
Any idea what I am looking at in terms of repairs and expense?
Well I can't comment anything on the issues you're having since I'm really only familiar with E46's but if you wanna go the Indy route I can definitely vouch for Mike's Beemer Shop in South Miami
Contact the local chapter of the BMWCCA. Members are happy to give you recs.
^^^ Thanks. I did that and got a response, but not to my specific questions.
Bump.
