Wheel R&R: How do I get back to exact OEM condition, please?

I have a couple of sets of wheels that have some curb rash but otherwise are in good condition without bends or cracks, etc.

In the past, I've tried a couple of wheel repair places but they just seem to paint over or even one that claimed to completely strip, a few years later, I can see come clear coat coming off.

What do I have to do to get my wheels back to exact OEM condition?

    Is it powder coating? Polishing?

I really don't know the terms and processes, and would really appreciate some guidance.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has had personal, successful experience with doing this and is willing to share some advice.

As a powder coater, I think that is the best way to go (maybe bias =P).

If you came into our shop and said make new again, we would strip the wheel to bare aluminum. Then use a powder coat primer or metal filler (depending on how severe) to fill the voids in the rash. Sand it by hand, up to 1000 grit. Then shoot color, then bake, and clear if needed.

It would cost between 300-450 for a set. So it's only really worth it if you love your wheels.
