Some times
It is pretty rare that I don't have dirt under my nails. Since I work a desk job, it doesn't come from there.
On occasion, if someone offers them I will wear some latex gloves.
Current fleet:

1999 BMW e36 328is with rotary valve engine head
1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight
1990 Jeep Comanche Eliminator
1962 Austin Healey Sprite
Sometimes. When I get frustrated and need the dexterity, I don't use gloves.
I heard that if you wear gloves, you also fit down to piss?
I normally start with some disposable gloves, but about 10 minutes in they are completely torn and I end up removing them anyways.

I do if I remember to put them on.
Life is like a car wash and I'm on a bicycle.
I try to, but I usually take them off 5 minute into a job because I need more dexterity
Or I put on latex gloves and take them off 15 minutes into a job because they get all sweaty and gross

I use latex gloves in the shop almost all the time, unless it's something real tight and the gloves make it tough. Dirty hands suck.

these are by far the BEST disposable gloves Ive used. Venom Steel. Very durable and flexible. Not much loss of sensitivity. For heavy jobs I do go through 2-3 pairs but routine stuff I can actually reuse them lol. I get them at Lowes 50 for $10

I wear mechanix gloves when working on heavy duty stuff but anytime I need dexterity I go bare. I'll wear nitrile gloves if I'm doing a small quick job and don't want to get my hands dirty (esp when working with brake fluid. That stuff + grease will stain your hands so bad!). I feel like I have almost no fine dexterity with mechanix gloves and still not that much with nitrile gloves. Plus the nitrile gloves end up tearing and getting tossed pretty quickly anyway
Nitrile gloves 99 percent of the time.
I'm not saying I mind getting greasy but it just doesn't look walking around with hands looking like I spend my days sitting in a bucket of dirty oil.
Never used to before , but now that i work in an Office type setting. i always use disposable Nitrile, currently using VENOM Black disposable as Machanix gloves get too grimy much too quickly

...When you get a blackeye from trying to change the shift knob.
I don't work on my vehicles much, but I don't wear gloves when I do. I couldn't take your poll though, because none of the answers fit.
I don't take pride on dirt under my nails, I'm rather indifferent towards such things.

Not so much a signature as a cry for help.
Hold on, saw this in a cartoon once...think I can pull it off.
Nitrile only. Easily reusable and have never had an issue finger-tightening hard to reach bolts, or at least starting the threads in(typical issues I've seen w/latex users). I usually double or triple layer, so when one tears or gets too dirty...rip it off to another layer. Pretty basic, and it's easy routine since I was used to this for sterile fields, or if you touched something not within the field.
Latex is too soft, stretches/tears under pretty light resistance.
I do wear leather gloves working on my car in the winter, this is purely a self preservation thing. My fingers still get so cold that they feel like they are going to fall off anyway.
After working at a machine shop, I stopped caring about how clean my nails looked. Now that I am an engineer with a desk job, I still don't care.

yes always l always use latex gloves as well could never understand why some people don't wear em'

Why do you use them?
Why I don't: I can wash my hands when I'm done, and any lingering stains on the skin can wear off in due time. Also, I don't like sweating in gloves.
The only time I wear gloves is when I'm working with some dangerous chemical that you don't want to get on your skin - of course your don't get sweaty in these because the stuff I work with eats through the gloves inside of 10 min so I'm always putting on new gloves anyways.

Can't get all the dirt out from under my nails. Also, I can get random cuts and scrapes. Scrubbing takes a toll on my skin, too.
I never understood how people can wear Mechanix gloves, they are filthy in the first 10 minutes.
When I worked at a shop in highschool, we had Nitrile gloves, but realistically, it would take at least 5 pairs to make it through a day.
I always use diamond grip latex gloves. I'm able to keep my dexterity and one pair will usually last the entire repair/day.
