That is as sloppy as I've ever seen one, it's junk. Must have rattled like hell.

There are springs in the flywheel?

Jeez, glad I checked with my BMW tech... who confirmed it was VERY VERY GOOD. In fact, well under what their tolerances.

Here is the flywheel inspection procedure:

That flywheel is scrap steel. Period. I would never put that back into a car.

Well, frog, let us know how this works out for you. Your "knowledgeable input" smells like a spammer from here.

Looks normal to me and it's definitely in spec according to what you posted.

I wouldn't think twice about using it.

    Are you blokes serious?

A NEW FLYWHEEL has play like this.. I posted the BMW ISSUED inspection manual for S54 Dual Mass Flywheel given to me by a the master mechanic at my local BMW Dealership. The travel should be no greater than 7 tooth gap, and in the video it has half that.

In before "I'm some guy from the internet and I know better than BMWs engineering department that made it" comments start to pour in.

I have sometimes wondered about allowable movement. The BMW spec has been posted.
