I actually saw one of those in the flesh not long ago, and they're not terrible. I, like you, am a fan of the Z3 so wouldn't contemplate this but it's not a bad looking kit and the proportions are good.

If Black Mariah ever gets bopped in the nose ( again) I might consider the Cobra kit. LOL, would be cheaper then all new BMW body panels and hood, etc.

The Bertini kit maker is a member here. I think he's done a decent job with it actually.

the cobra kit is another story.

I still like my Z as it is... but of the Z based kits I do like the Bertini the best (though still have a minor problem with the tail - that large featureless area below the brake lights and btwn the wheels and center of the tail)... but if I was going to do a kit car [which is likely] I think I'd go with something like the GBS Zero GT - a pure driving/cornering machine, and one gets to build whatever personality one wishes into it (via parts selection).... and pretty easy to build something that leaves even a z3m s54 in the dust (and without all the issues).

Agreed. His looks so much better that that "cobra" thing. Pretty cool that he got some press in the UK for it

The Bertini worked with the natural lines of the car. The cobra worked against the natural lines and I think thats why it looks so bad.

Umm... not convinced. If the Z was a pig, I could understand it. There are kits and then there are kits. Ok the bugets may be different.

I could see doing the cobra kit. I like the Bertini, but it's a little "soft" looking for me. The cobra is not a good replica, but a cool looking tribute. I just repaired a z3 with damage to nearly every panel, would have been just as easy to do a kit, and have something unique.
