Bear Lock - Reverse Lock Anti-theft

So I bit the bullet and went ahead with the Bear Lock install. My car is rarely street parked, but I wanted to have the extra piece of mind whenever I do go out and leave it on the street.

My buddies are currently importing these and wanted me to be the guinea pig for the E36 market. All I have to say is "this thing is awesome!" The install was straight forward and didn't take too long. The locking mechanism is solid and does not interfere with shifting at all. This is a great added security feature IMO

EWS II already prevents the car from being started and driven away. I have no prior experience in the art of car theft, but the options that occur to me for dealing with this shift lock are:
    - Jack one side of car, slide underneath, disconnect shift linkage rod pivot pin at bottom of lever, slip into neutral, tow way. 10 minutes?
    - Lift rear of car, tow away as is with rear wheels off the ground. 5-10 minutes?

I guess it has a dissuading effect compared to the next available car.

You would need quit some space to tow it away and a pretty dead street in order to do all that. It is possible though, anything to slow down the thieves is helpful and can provide the crucial time for someone to catch them in the act.

Move to NH. No one steals 15 year old cars up here.

I spend a year towing for a friends tow company when I was younger. If I had the right truck, I could steal my M3 in 5 mins flat on a busy street. They take about ten seconds to break into with the right tools. I guess my point is, if someone wants to steal your car bad enough, a lock on the shifter isn't going to help IMHO

Couldn't you just put a brick on the clutch pedal to hold it down?
