This beautiful E28 M5, a long-time dream car of mine, was up on eBay until a few hours ago:

I was actually winning the auction for a few seconds in the last minute before someone else upped their bid from sub-$18K to $19K. Anyone on here the lucky winner?
Frick that is GORGEOUS! I bet you must be pretty bummed to lose that auction!

That is indeed a stunning car. I saw two very similar e28 M5s at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix two weekends ago.
I would certainly love to own one of those but I would probably pick up an e24 M6 first as they are so beautiful.
Current fleet:
1999 BMW e36 M3
1999 BMW e36 328is with rotary valve engine head
1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight
1990 Jeep Comanche Eliminator
1962 Austin Healey Sprite
Yeah, I know, it was a disappointing fail for me. Beautiful car. I will own one, some day . I agree about the e24 m6's, they are stunning as well, but is just like the M5's better for whatever reason.
I did not win it. But I will try again to win it.
Very nice! No need to be bummed though, you'll find one with lower miles
Wow, there's another one up on eBay already! Even higher miles (197K), but looks clean for a car with original paint. What do you think this one is worth?

Indeed, a lot of them have been up on eBay lately! Surprisingly many considering how few were produced. Here's a REALLY nice one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M5-Base-...US_Cars_Trucks
Not gonna get this one myself, the bidding's clearly going to get out of my price range before the auction ends, but dayum that car is fine, so I thought I'd pass it along
