My dad's car has a ticking lifter/valve. Some people recommend Seafoam.

I will sum up the following seven pages. There will be two camps
The "lookin' good Bro" crowd will tell you it's the most wonderful high tech stuff around. Cures everything, including peeling clearcoat. Best used by nearly hydrolocking the engine. And they will offer up pictures of an engine with a blown head gasket, freshly steam cleaned cylinders, to prove how well it works.
The "hater" group (aka the realists) will tell you the stuff has been around since the 1940s, and nothing but a mix of kerosene, lighter fluid, and alcohol. It does nothing special, and is down right dangerous the way many recommend inducing it into the intake.
Guess which camp I'm in.
